At Christmas I got most of the kids these for their stocking, but I ordered vegan 'sours' for her instead. I definitely would not give these to a vegan or vegetarian because of the gelatine and cochineal. I think she is okay with honey and beeswax as they are a bi product and not an actual bee! I believe shellac is also a bi product and not an actual insect.I agree with you that they are not suitable for vegans and vegetarians.
