Has kept perfect time in the year and a half since I ...
Outstanding features of this watch:* Has kept perfect time in the year and a half since I bought it* Doesn't need recharging all the time like a cell phone; it's been running off the original batteries for a year and a half* Works where there's no cell phone service (yes, those places still exist and I visit them frequently)* Great for those like myself who dislike wearing a wristwatch, but who still need to keep track of the time; it's more like a small, portable clock* Clips onto belt loop, backpack, messenger bag, cross-body bag, purse, etc.* Easy to clip and unclip, but quite secure; I have never had it unclip itselt accidentally* Doesn't give you a tan line on your wrist* Water-resistant; I haven't personally tested to 100 feet, but it has gotten a lot of real-life testing in the rainy climate where I live* Nice unisex design; doesn't scream "man's watch" when I use it, but looks totally appropriate for a man's watch when my husband borrows it (he won't wear a wristwatch, either)* Has second hand, so can be used for checking heart rate (pulse) for fitness or medical reasons* It's analog, not digital, so it's old-school cool!* Numerals glow in the dark after brief exposure to light; saves battery life over a back-lit style.* Large, easy to read numerals* All the numerals 1-12 (none of this 12, 3, 6, 9, then figure out the rest).* Outer ring with markings for all 60 minutes/seconds* Outer ring numbered by fives from 05 to 55, which makes keeping track of minutes and seconds easier* Good watch for teaching children to tell analog time because of the four features listed directly above* Because it is analog, you can amaze and astound your friends by using the hour hand on this watch to find true north (numerous websites have instructions on how to do this); can't do that with a digital watchI was a little hesitant to order this watch because of the number of one star reviews, but now I'm glad I took a chance with this product. This watch has worked out well for me. I use it mostly in town for everyday use, but I also use it in the back country when camping or backpacking, and it has been rugged enough to stand up to that kind of use.

Excellent choice for avoiding the wristwatch
This watch works well, and keeps good time. The hands are easy to read at a glance, with nice contrast between the light hands and dark face. It's also in the correct orientation, meaning that if it's hung by the carabiner from your backpack strap, or your belt loop, and you flip the face up to look at it, you're viewing it normally. Some others are upside down, and only work for others to look at your watch while it's hanging there, which is useless for the owner. The water resistance is nice, because I can leave it on the backpack strap if it rains and not care if it gets a little wet. That also lets me rinse it off after a campout for easy cleaning. The luminous hands glow well. Even at night, 30 seconds with the flashlight, and I can still just make out the time in a dark tent hours later if it's pitch black, and I take a close look when my eyes are already adjusted.Nice to use in the summer heat, or when you're constantly adding bug repellent or sun block to your arms in the summer anyway and don't want to spray your watch crystal or move your wristwatch back and forth to your pocket every time. I'm not sure if it would work well in the winter to avoid having to dig under your gloves, because batteries and watches don't like to be left out unheated and cooled far below freezing and still keep accurate time, but you might clip it under your coat or somewhere it can get some warmth. I've only used mine above freezing so far.Case and movement are pretty tight. The whole thing is nice and solid, no slop, no rattling, no hand movement if shaken, etc. Great value for the price, and cheap enough you won't really worry about in case it ever got some accidental damage.

Great product with one caveat
This product is fantastic and well thought out! The orientation of the timepiece relative ro the way it clips makes it easy to lift and do a time check. The carabiner clip is quick to use and doesn't snag if you attempt to remove the timepiece, and its small and lightweight making it easy to sw, carry, and adding only grams to a pack load. It's able to handle direct exposure to a PNW rain storm while being exposed to the elements without water ingress. Not sure how it'll take to a submerged scenario but for the hike this is perfect for all weather. The price is a little tough to bare but it brings immense amounts of value for what you pay. This is almost a 5-star product, what keeps it from the final star is the dial face. Fully submersible dive rated watched can be had for cheaper that offer the option to rotate the external ring to monitor time from a set start regardless of clock time. This timepiece has the look but not the functionality. Knowing that divers are setting the 0 time to the minute hand to monitor air usage, a hiker could set the 0 time to the hour hand and track when they started and finished. This would be helpful to know pace on trail and seems like a complete miss to have a strict styling feature only. Please either update the timepiece to include a rotating dial or remove it and design a different look so users don't expect a rotating dial.Even with this I'd still recommend anyone to get this if theyre interested in time management on trail regardless of sleeve length or clothing layers interfering with a wristwatch option. I still have a smartwatch I wear that's covered and inconvenient to get to when layered with gloves, long sleeves, and trekking poles, this solves the requirement to get a quick time check no matter what.

Poor Quality. NOT worth the $$
Failed under light stress. Lasted less than 4 months, NOT for the sports person!!! Used by a Senior Citizen as a clipon watch for their cross body bag. The face crystal of this watch fell off after 3 1/2 months of gentle use. Disappointing and definately not durable. It was significantly lighter than most, the clip and the nylon webbing were nice. Might be temped to try again, but not for the price of $55 - $60.

Works great. "You get what you pay for"
Tried several similar watches that had belt clips. 2 of the 3 I bought broke within a month or two for some reason. The 3rd is still working now, but is hard to read because of the contrast of the hands and the dial. Decided to just spend the extra money and get a good, brand name watch. It came in a nice box and was packaged good. Has a 5 year warrantee. It is very easy to read, is well built and looks great. I think I made the right decision. That last Dakota watch I had (a similar one) lasted over 5 years before it stopped working. If I can get 5 years out of this one, I'll be happy! Would recommend this.

A Very practical pocket watch at a good price
A well made pocket watch with a history of good watches. I like that I can position it so I can keep track of my time when giving a lecture or other timed activities in the office, etc. These watches are built to last.

Ravis

Dakota Watch
I like it a lot,, great not having something on your wrist when walking or playing golf, very easy to read and no more white wrist band from the suntan.

Feels and looks reasonable good quality.
Looks and feels quite good. Hope clip lasts as I had a previous clip watch that moving part broke off, though it could be replaced with a heavier duty clip. Was going put on a face protection glass but the glass is not flat but domes out from the sides. Well hope this is more durable glass than the usual cheep Chinese clip watches that the face glass breaks too easily. And I hope the Japanese movement keeps good time as the Chinese movements on some watches are terrible.
