Immediate disclaimer: Have not gone through a cold Northern Illinois winter with this unit, so we'll see how that goes. Otherwise, performance has been flawless. I bought our first one to extend range so we could monitor an outlying part of our property with a security camera (dang kids and their rock 'n roll music). It meshes perfectly with the rest of our indoor TP-Link Deco units. A couple months later I bought a second outdoor unit to use with Starlink. I mounted the unit right next to the Starlink receiver and switched this one over to be the base unit for the whole system. The AX1800 is directly compatible with the Starlink receiver, so I plugged it straight into the receiver and bypassed the Starlink modem. The Starlink receiver and AX1800 base unit are mounted on an outbuilding about 75 yards from the nearest indoor Deco, so I don't always get full strength on the Wifi, but it's good enough. Only negative is the plastic wall mount is a bit flimsy for high winds, so I reinforced it a bit. But if it eventually breaks, there are many other ways to secure it to a wall.

This was perfect for extending my deco mesh network outdoors. Easy setup and install. All done in less than an hour.

This outdoor Deco unit works flawlessly! I installed it to extend my mesh network to the backyard and garage area, and the coverage is strong and stable everywhere. Setup was effortless through the Deco app — it connected instantly with my existing system. The speed and reliability are excellent, even in heavy rain. The waterproof design feels durable, and I love that it supports PoE+ for a clean installation without extra power cords. Streaming, cameras, and smart devices all stay connected without drops. If you already have a Deco mesh, this is the perfect addition for outdoor coverage. Reliable, fast, and worth every dollar.

I bought this TP unit specifically because I have a driveway LED rope light that I have the Wi-Fi box buried so I can mow the grass. When it works, it has a strong signal so I know it’s not because it’s buried that it continuously disconnects. The only way to get it to reconnect is to unplug the TP unit and reboot it that way. Every single time it comes back online with a strong signal. This thing is supposed to cover 2500 ft.² of space. At one point it had my Traeger grill connected that is on my back porch! Why?! I’m sick of having to go outside and unplug this stupid unit and replug it back in over and over again. I have three total LED lights outside. The other two are directly below the TP unit that is sitting on my front deck. It will lose connection from those also!! Trust me when I say to stay away from this, it is garbage! Buy something more expensive. This is not worth the money at all. Also, why is there not an outdoor TP unit that has Wi-Fi 6E? The rest of my Deco mesh system is all Wi-Fi 6E and has no problems. I checked and supposedly having a Wi-Fi six and a Wi-Fi 6E mesh system is supposed to not be a problem. I fear this is exactly the problem and exactly why I looked for a Wi-Fi 6E outdoor unit. Do not buy it unless you like to reboot it over and over again. My lights are on a cycle where they turn on at dusk and off at Dawn. If they are not connected to Wi-Fi at the time, the signal does not go through the lights and they do not go on or off like they’re supposed to. So basically I have to check and make sure they’ve done it, which is completely defeating the purpose of the automation.

This helped reach cameras on my property that are further away and would frequently lose WiFi signal. It also helped with one camera that was bent blocked from a signal because of a building. Great buy, works as expected.

Works well with the rest of the Deco mesh system. I now have very good coverage in my back yard.
