Great portable sound, tough unit, good price point. fun color ring
I did my research and ultimately chose to purchase the Anker over the JBL. Cost was certainly a factor but not the first. I wanted a good speaker for my daughters to enjoy. Plus, I was sick of listening to them blare their music through the crappy phone speakers. Now at least, I can hear a bit more depth. I took note if this type of speaker when a friend traveled to visit brought his JBL. we had fun putting it in the center of the table on the patio while we chatted and took turns choosing songs on his phone. I decided on the Anker after talking with a different friend who had a different Anker. I purchased a pair of these along with the carry case for each of my two daughers. The sound is great, and can fill a room without trouble. It may not have all the features of the JBL (cant hook 99 of them up in series for a bon fire beach party--bummer?) but they work great, and the ring lighted base that strobes to the beat is pretty cool. It can be turned off, by the way. They take a while to charge, 6+ hours I think. But this speaker puts out strong sound for a long time. Its pretty durable and I like that it stands erect rather than horizontal as it takes up less footprint on a table. Since my car does not have bluetooth or a patch cord, the speaker often gets placed on the dash or between the seats with no problem. I never know how much abuse electronics will get from my daughters who seem to go through screen protectors every month, and this Anker is holding up really well. its pretty rugged. Another reason i strayed from the pricier JBL, thinking that if it got trashed, my sense of financial practicality would not be quite so wounded. All the controls are on the top of the unit and we have had no connection issues at all. I also got the patch cord so they could hook it up to their laptop. So ya, all in all, its been a good purchase and after 4 months, no problems and still going strong.

Loved the two I got BUT...
Pros: I loved the sound quality and lights on the speaker, I also loved the ability to pair two Soundcore Flares for a surround sound effect. It is also quite nice that it has a ipx7 waterproof rating (can be completely submersed up to 3ft). Cons: My biggest issue with this product is that the advertised battery life is not accurate, instead of 12 hours it lasts about 5.5 hours on max volume. The Soundcore app frequently has an issue pairing with the devices and requires me to re-pair the speakers in order to try again. One of the speakers also suddenly stopped working after 5 days which was also highly aggravating and I am currently attempting to get a refund/replacement. I would say these are still worth the purchase as they are great but it is important to know their drawbacks as well. Edit: I received the refund for the defective speaker and I am currently happy with the speed of delivery and simplicity of returning my defective item. I am crossing my fingers that these two speakers continue to work just fine. Edit #2: After owning these two speakers for a couple years now, I can absolutely say that they are reliable and a worthy purchase. After the defective speaker was replaced, I continued to use these on a daily basis. They have suffered numerous drops onto hard surfaces and have not broken yet (I’m gonna try to stop dropping them anyways). I am changing my review from a 3 star to 5 star!

This is ✨The One✨ for me
I didn't want to review it until I had the device for more than a year, and it has NOT disappointed. It's SO much cheaper than the Bose Soundlink speakers some of my coworkers have, and the sound quality is not that different in my opinion. Mess with the equalizer in the app and you'll likely get the performance you want. I work outside rain or shine in the spring and fall prepping boats. This little guy plays for two full workdays (16 hours total) before dying, going well past their estimated battery life of 12 hours even one year of use later. I don't blast it at full volume but I do have it pretty decently loud, and I have the little LEDs and bass boost turned off which may explain the longevity somewhat. Nowadays I bring a solar charger and top it up every few days during a lunch break if it's starting to get low, and I can't remember the last time it died at this point. Haven't tested the waterproofing other than a few quick rainstorms and bringing it in the shower sometimes (not purposefully under the water, but sitting on a shelf in the shower). It can definitely handle high ambient humidity and some splashing, but I'd look to other reviewers for its performance after submersion. For cleaning I usually use a vaccuum to suck out any dust that gets on its little cloth covering and then run a wet rag over it. The only con for me: the app on iOS isn't great, and for some reason wants your mobile data on (??) even if it's connected to your bluetooth already. If you disable the app from using your cell data it will claim it can't find the device (note: the speaker will be happily playing music over bluetooth throughout this exchange, it isn't a connection issue at all). As soon as you re-enable data, boom, the app works. Not sure why, perhaps there's a reason I'm not understanding. Thankfully you don't need to use the app unless you wish to control the equalizer or the colour controls for the LEDs, so I set it up once and then haven't touched it much since.

Good price to performance ratio for this portable Bluetooth speaker.
So, I needed a new Bluetooth speaker, as my old one has some battery issues that have forced me to purchase something else. I currently have a Cambridge Soundworks Oontz Angle 3XL. It’s an amazing sounding speaker that has served be well for over 4 years. My only issue with it is it’s inability to hold a charge. Plugged into the wall, it works just fine. Charge the battery and turn it on and it doesn’t work. I’ve replaced the battery 2 times and still no luck. I purchased the Anker Soundcore Flare as it was on sale for around $40 after a $10 coupon. So, I jumped on the bandwagon and purchased it. Once it arrived, I charged it overnight and started using it the next day. So, I turn it on, it makes the “booting up” sound and the Bluetooth button is blinking. Which means it’s ready to pair. I get my Samsung Note 8, turn on Bluetooth and try to pair it to the Soundcore Flare. Nope. An error message stating it can’t be paired and to make sure the device is in pairing mode. After several more failed attempts at pairing, I ask the wife to try and pair to the speaker with her iPhone XS Max. Same thing. Numerous tries and it isn’t working as expected. Online I go to search for a solution. The first of which is to upgrade the speaker’s firmware. Sounds reasonable to me. I downloaded the firmware, extracted it into a directory. I then downloaded the Soundcore update tool which works in conjunction with the downloaded firmware. So, I started the update tool. At this point, you plug in your USB cable to your computer. Once plugged in, hold down the Bluetooth button and connect the other end of the cable to the Soundcore Flare. Once connected, release the Bluetooth button. Now, you can proceed using the update tool, select the firmware you just downloaded and in a few minutes you’re done. After the firmware was updated, I was able to connect via Bluetooth to the speaker. This speaker has some cool features; one that is probably geared towards younger individuals. There’s a ring of flashing lights at the base of the speaker. The brightness and tempo is controlled via buttons on the top of the speaker or the Android or iPhone Soundcore app. I found it MUCH easier to control via the phone app. And, if you’re looking to get as much music play time with your speaker, it would be wise to turn the light show off. And, as you’ve probably guessed, the lights are off on my Soundcore Flare. I also purchased a carrying case for the speaker. We travel back and forth from Charlotte, NC to Disney World in Orlando, and I wanted a hard case to keep it protected on our trips. It fits snugly in the case. I’ll write a review for the case later, after a few months of trips. Pros: Really good price to performance ratio. For around $40 this speaker sounds really good. I probably shouldn’t compare it to a speaker costing twice as much, but that’s all I am familiar with. Long battery life, especially when you turn off the light display. I’m currently on hour 8 of a single charge, playing music at about 40% sound level and no light show. Easy to lug around. The speaker is easy to transport – i.e. carry around. It fits well in my hand. It’s waterproof, but I’ve not tested that feature and probably won’t – at least intentionally. Via the phone app, you can customize to your desire the amount of bass, mid-range and treble with a handy, easy to use mixer. Cons: The deep bass feature is not as noticeable as I would have thought. It was described as “BREATHTAKING BASS” and personally, it falls short of that claim. There’s a small difference, but nothing major. Sound is OK, nothing Earth shattering. Once again, I’m comparing it to a speaker costing twice as much, so that’s probably unfair. Overall, I’m happy with the purchase. Not ecstatic, so I’m giving it only 4 stars. Having to update the firmware before being able to connect was a bummer. As a technical individual, it was fairly quick and easy, but for someone without a technical background, it might have been very frustrating. Secondly, the sound is merely good, or pretty good. The bass is NOT breathtaking as is claimed. They’re stretching thing there just a little.

Fun Little Speaker in the COVID ICU
I work in an ICU in CT full of COVID 19 patients. I bought this speaker to bring to work as a way to cheer up the staff since there are no visitors and the patients are all sedated, so whos going to mind a little music? It was an inexpensive speaker so I figured if it got ruined at work who cares. It proved to be a great little speaker. It sounds way better than I would have expected. The battery lasts through a 16 hour shift at a pretty high volume and it brings some much needed stress relief to the overworked and understaffed unit. We have opened 4 extras ICUs in the hospital and everyone wants to work in the one with the music! My only regret is not buying two when they where on sale so I could put one at both ends of the unit and link them. The exhaust fans that maintain our negative pressure make it hard to hear at the far end of the ICU so a second speaker would have been a good idea.. Overall a great product. Forgot to mention its waterproof so I spray it with sanitizer at the end of each shift, a nice little bonus!

Great Sound & Built Like A Tank
In the age of a quick buck and cheaply made products this bluetooth speaker is built like a tank. Since I bought this, I've put it through a very rigorous, almost daily routine and it's held out very well. My initial thoughts were that the fabric covering would tear or the color fade out, it never did. I thought the waterproof seal would wear out with time...nope. For sure then the battery would gradually lose its capacity and you guessed it, it's still going strong. In fact the whole speaker looks and sounds like the day I got it. And speaking of sound, this puppy sounds great. The bass is not overwhelming nor are the mids and trebles too high, its tuned just right. Soundcore make wonderful products, I like to think of it as the Soundcore flair ( see what I did there? Pure genius.). Anyway this is a great speaker and an absolute value for money. Love it!

Great Sound in a small convenient package with a lot of extras
This little speaker packs quite the punch. I honestly don't know how it is able to produce the bass it can and the volume can be cranked up without distortion. Adequate for a pool patio gathering.

Sound on the go is great.
Just got it today. Can't wait till I get the second one. Very impressed with the sound for only 12 watts. I wanted a set for portability with a good sound. Pair to phone was a breeze, but not when I needed to update two more speakers. Conected to my echo dot was easy. Wish I could pair four together. Once connected to echo dot cannot use soundcore app to change ; like. change the color of the lights. Don't need app when pairing with echo dot . App no longer works when paired with echo dot. The manufacturer is great working with issues, I feel good buying their producuts. Fixed all issues when I re-paired with phone and was able to update. Have four speakers for surround sound using Alexa multi room in same room.

rundum zufrieden

Excellent sound quality and easy to use.
Fabulous little speaker but packs a punch. So easy to set up once charged and had it going within a couple of minutes. I’ve only had it one day but was impressed by the quality of sound and the ease of control of volume, bass and lights, all from the unit. The only cons were perhaps battery time (it died on me after 6 hours of solid use after it’s first full charge, without the lights) and it didn’t like being placed on a softer surface (grass lawn) and started distorting - it was immediately solved by putting it on a garden chair. No big deal but seemed odd. Looking forward to using it now with my Zoom calls and classes! Highly recommend if you’re looking for a sturdy but very portable speaker, with excellent sound quality. Not one to pack for your holidays as, in my view, too heavy.
