i received this product in which the handle (black part) is inverted compared to photo. It can't move 360 degrees and gets stuck. Is this normal?

It ships like that to fit in the box you should be able to take that nut off and flip it around. Be careful about stripping it. Also in my experience the same companies products can very a bit. With the same dough I had ones that would work about 50% and other times I had ones we could hook a hand drill up to and really crank them out. Hope this helps.

I’m having a hard time getting the dough not to stick to the metal part of the machine how do I get it to stop sticking?

In regards to your question, simply use the built-in clamp to secure the Cavatelli Maker to countertops (up to 1.365-inches thick). Roll out the pasta dough, cut it into strips and feed them into the machine, as directed. Turn the handle with a steady pace to form and cut the cavatelli. Cook according to recipe. What imprint does this cutter make on the cavatellis? Lines or dots? If lines, do they run lengthwise or width wise?

Lines and go width wise. This roller is garbage though I found a better one that didn't break after 5 lbs of dough.
