FN Browning Pistols, Side Arms that Shaped the World History: Expanded Second Edition Hardcover – January 1, 2013

I own several texts on FN and the Browning pistols. This work by Anthony Vanderlinden is the best by far. It is a phenomenal and very detailed history. The only work that effectively presents all of the pistols and their detailed history. Please buy this from Wet Dog Publications (distributed by Wolf Hounds), the home of the author and publisher. They are the best.

I am more than happy!!! I received a new book that was signed by the author,publisher and seller of this book. I was looking for history on the Browning Hi Power pistol. I have not read the entire book yet but there appears to be a wealth of information in this here.

This is an incredible book with lots of detailed information about the history of FN manufactured Browning pistols. It is profusely illustrated with high quality photos. It also includes proof mark discussions to help identify the age and history of FN Browning pistols.

Excellent information and reference for collectors and those interested in history and firearms design. I would strongly recommend the works of this author and his publishing business. I will continue to use him as a trusted source for my reference library.

Expensive book. Worth every penny. I have a family heirloom early Dutch FN 1922. The coverage and specific info and pictures was much more complete than expected. While most of these common guns do not have great monetary value, their historical meaning spans decades. This book is a collectors bible for early Browning handguns. If I could, I would give it six stars.

This book covers nearly every facet of FN/Browning history, not just the pistols. Starting with the earliest Browning designs and following through the the HP-35 "High Power" design, the book is both well illustrated and researched. A lot of focus is placed on the earlier designs, most of which don't get the appropriate level of respect from collectors. High quality and detailed photos of all the pistols are shown, along with the accessories for each. There is even a pretty well done section on Browning history, that covers some of their other commercial ventures outside the firearms world.My only complaint is that the HP-35 series is somewhat shorter than I would expect. Most of the emphasis is on German WW2 production, and the book covers very little of the postwar stuff, and almost nothing about the postwar contract guns (Iraqi, Syrian, UAR, etc). It would not have taken much to cover them, or at least picture them, but this wasn't done. Likewise, the commercial market itself for the HP-35 isn't covered all that well. Otherwise, the book is quite complete.I would recommend it to the casual Browning collector or even an advanced one, and given the quality of the paper and binding, I suspect it will last a lifetime. This publisher has put out some very interesting books over the recent years, and I honestly hope they keep it up. This review covers the 2nd edition...

Amazing book. Full color and detailed B&W photos. This book is the reference for FN pistols.Book was in new condition with a bonus as it was signed by the author.

Book provided very good history and information on pistols by FN and J.M. Browning that completed other histories with J.M. Browning and Winchester and Colt in the U.S. Enjoyed the book.
