Clearwater Variety Sunchoke - Jerusalem Artichoke VAR. Clearwater. - 4 Tubers - Sunroot - by Yumheart Gardens

Came to this seller because they offer varieties of sunchokes (these, and the wild PJ's variety) that I wasn't able to find elsewhere. We had some shipping issues (consequences of living in rural Hawaii...) and thought the package lost, and the seller was very polite and quick to offer a refund when I contacted them to check on it. The tubers ended up arriving after all, and despite the extended time in the mail were quick to sprout and have been taking quite well to the small dirt patch I dug for them. I'm looking forward to trying these varieties, and will update this review once I've had the opportunity to taste test :) For those who haven't grown / eaten sunchokes before - they're a fantastic vegetable and one of my favorites (although they do take a bit of acclimating as they have very high inulin content.) They also spread like a weed and practically grow themselves, although they do, in my experience, appreciate rich soil. Plant them somewhere you don't mind making a permanent sunchoke habitat, and you have food for life.

I planted these to provide color for us, and pollen for bees. We put them in a patch with sunflowers. They shot up quickly. The tall sunflowers flowered and matured as expected. The sun chokes, however, grew and grew with no sign of blossoms. Eventually, they dwarfed the tall sunflowers- topping at 10 to 12 feet. Finally, in September, blossoms appeared and we have a flowered skyline that is drawing bees when the rest of the garden is past blooming.

First year after planting the plz to grew 4’ tall with flowers. Tubers were small as expected for the first year. Still waiting to see if the tubers survived our Iowa winter.

The first batch I ordered were small and pretty dried out. They didn't do anything. I tried a 2nd time, and ordered 2 different varieties. These were larger, nice and moist, very fresh, and arrived with actual little sprouts on each one. I planted both varieties and within a few days, they were all breaking through the soil. I can't wait to have my own sunchoke patch again. I had one 35 yrs ago in the midwest. I loved them! Now I'm in AZ, starting over and so excited to be able to grow these once again!!! It's been a bit over a month now and they are up 6-12" and looking very healthy! Thank you!🌱🌻👍😊

Missing 2 tubers ?!

The tubers were delivered quickly and as advertised. This is the first time I’m growing sunchokes and I’m impressed with the product. I planted the tubers one day after delivery and was surprised to see green sprouts 7 days latter. I’ve read that sunchokes can be invasive so I temporarily planted them in a pot until I constructed a raised bed to contain them. About two weeks later, I planted them in the raised bed and they have doubled their sprouts and are now about 6” tall, the root systems is well developed. Can’t wait to harvest them later in the season! Thanks for a great product. I would purchase from this seller again.

I am an experienced gardener. These bulbs came shriveled and completely dehydrated. You expect some dehydration, but not this much. I attempted to rehydrate and plant half, but they never sprouted. I just planted the other half, and those did not sprout either.

Vigorous and healthy! The package arrived early in the week, so I left it in a dark room until the weekend. The tubers had begun to sprout in their envelope--no doubts as to whether they are healthy. I'm surprised they arrived in tact-- they were shipped in an unpadded envelope and my postal carrier can be... rough...on packages.
