Looked online and found numerous videos on the problem and how to address. It's either the felt sleeve or drum bearing. Had no idea of which, but took a guess and chose the bearing (which was correct). Followed the directions on an online video, was fairly easy. Actually took more time cleaning out the inside of the dryer than doing the repair (the vent return on the front of the dryer was loose, allowing debris to fly around inside the machine). I'm lucky the damn thing didn't start on fire. The only difficulty was threading the screws into the new drum. I got them in, but the heads were starting to strip a bit. Take your time on this task. The bearing and cup were severely worn. New part did the trick. I'd say this is an easy to moderately easy repair. I'm pretty handy, but attempted it figuring I'd just head out and buy a new one if it didn't work. Give it a try.
