Personally, I would feel pretentious if I wore an expensive designer name after shave to work. I am not a doctor, lawyer, or CEO. I work an average job. And I need an After Shave that works without being pretentious. The Proraso After Shave Lotion fulfills that role. This is a good year-round product. It has a cooling effect on the skin. The scent is light and cool. It will give a momentary sting if you have damaged your skin during the shaving process. However, the sting is mild and goes away immediately. This is a good way to give yourself feedback in terms of your shaving technique and the method of hair removal that you are using. I use an electric shaver; therefore, I rarely experience the micro abrasions that those who use a blade would normally get. I do still get the rare in-grown hair from time to time. And when I get careless and shave against the hair growth, yes, I may get slight irritations. The After Shave tells you how much micro damage you did. The lotion immediately calms the skin. I like the fragrance. It is mildly energizing as well as refreshing. The scent is not at all over-powering. I would say it is suitable for all occasions. It does what good after shaves do. It protects from infection, calms the skin, and makes your face feel cooler. It works well all season but particularly useful in the summer. The lotion evaporates fast and cools the skin. As I said in my review of the Williams Lectric Shave lotion, "you could pay a lot more for another product and get a lot less." The same truth applies here. You get a lot for your money with the Proraso.

nothing to complain about. it does a great job, smells good too. I like the fact that it's made in Europe, pretty cool. i don't know why some people are so focused on the smell, it's not meant to last for a long period of time. it does what it says it does, and makes my face feel nice after shaving. i also like to use a moisturizing facial lotion once this dries on my face to help recover from shaving. if you have the right setup, you shouldn't be getting many razor bumps or cuts anyway. it doesn't burn or anything, it has a cooling sensation when using it.

After a lot of experimentation I've arrived at Proraso green as my aftershave of choice. Like all Proraso products, the price to performance ratio is unmatched. This stuff smells and performs as well as anything twice it's price. When applied to freshly shaved skin the first thing you'll feel is that familiar alcohol burn. It's not as intense as other brands but it will let you know if you were a little rough on your face during your shave. That burn quickly gives way to a nice tingle that then turns into an ice cold menthol blast. Your face will be almost numb and any razor rash will be stopped dead in it's tracks. Those with an aversion to menthol will want to avoid this, it's a real eye opener! You won't need coffee after a jolt of this stuff in the morning! If you overdo it it can be pretty intense but if your shave technique is sound and you don't drown yourself in it you'll be rewarded with a nice icy cool tingling feeling. The smell is great as well. It smells very fresh and clean. The menthol and eucalyptus is present in the aroma and overall it just has a nice clean and fresh scent. It's hard to describe an aroma in print but suffice to say it smells very green! Like any good aftershave the smell settles down nicely after a short while so you won't reek like a used car salesman and it shouldn't interfere with your cologne of choice. Myself, I don't wear cologne because I'm a chef and perfume is frowned upon in a kitchen. I love that I can enjoy the effects of a quality aftershave as well as it's great scent knowing it will dissipate enough before I get to work. The scent doesn't disappear entirely mind you, you just won't reek to high heaven. Someone would have to get close to really smell it. And speaking of that, my wife loves the smell too! It also has wonderful moisturizing properties for an alcohol based splash. After it absorbs in it feels like your skin was moisturized with a creamy type lotion. No drying at all like a lot of splashes. After a dose of Proraso aftershave my skin feels healthy and grateful. Treat yourself to something nice an pick up a bottle!

When using a safty razor, this lotion as very nice. I have used other domestic brands, and while they are good, Proraso after shave seems to have a finishing oil that soothes better than just alcohol.

Proraso After Shave Lotion is the best every day splash you can get. I say best because it has a wonderful barbershop scent but relaxes very quickly so you can wear to work without anyone really noticing much, but for a very subtle essence. The face feel is invigorating but not burning. It's a perfect balance of scent, toning, and feel. Now for the review(s?) complaining about the term "lotion." For those of us who take our shaving seriously (I do), "after shave lotion" is common parlance for this type of application. A thicker solution may be referred to as a "balm." For the novice and unlearned, it may be easy to take the purely American definition of "lotion" and get all bent because decades of tradition doesn't comport with a simplistic self identification. In fact, "lozione" is what this Proraso is called. In Italian, "lozione" is defined as "Preparazione farmaceutica liquida (di solito una soluzione idroalcolica, profumata o contenente estratti vari) usata nella cosmesi della pelle e dei capelli. Or in English: " Liquid pharmaceutical preparation (usually a hydroalcoholic solution, perfumed or containing various extracts) used in skin and hair cosmetics." This is a perfectly apt description of Proraso After Shave Lotion, er, Proraso Lozione Dopabarbra Rinfrescante. So, for users who desire a wonderful after shave experience, don't let newbie ignorance infect you with the silly complaint that this Italian classic isn't the same as their grocery store goop. Proraso is a classic. Every shave den should have a bottle.
