I love my new robomower!
I love my new robomower! It took a couple of tries over a couple of days to get things just right-- finding a good home for the mower and base, moving the satellite receiver so I get excellent reception everywhere, outlining and re-outlining the areas I want mowed with every change, learning to control the mower manually, learning to use the app-- but it was worth it! Now I have it mow all three yards (front, back, side) every 2-3 days which allows me to use the time I used to spend mowing doing other yard work and outdoor projects that I've been neglecting because I was too worn out from mowing in this Texas heat and humidity to do them. My yard in just over 1600 SF all together and the mower can do all of it on one charge in about 1.5 to 2 hours. Sometimes when I ran the mower extra and the battery did run low, the mower returned to its base, charged itself, and then went back out and completed the job. I really like the map in the app which shows you where the mower is, what has been mowed (both in area and percentage), and how much battery is remaining. The mower will send a message if it gets stuck but it's pretty good at getting itself unstuck too if you just leave it be. For sticking issues, the mower can dig a bit of a hole in the grass but as I've used it over these couple of weeks, the problem areas it ran in to are either now "no go" zones that I've added to the map or else the problem resolved itself organically. For example, initially the mower got hung up on some (surprisingly strong) long tendrils of St Augustine grass I had grown in some problematic areas of the yard where a shade tree had been removed and new grass was beginning to grow in to some previous grass-free areas. But after having the area mowed a couple of times the grass tendrils are broken up and now are tamed enough that the mower no longer gets stuck there. Where there was a large tree root or a flower bed without a clear border that the mower could detect, I just "no go" zoned those spots. I bought a different pole to mount the satellite receiver so that it is 12 feet high instead of the 5-ish feet that comes with the mower. This was needed because of the size and placement of my grassy areas, the heavy tree cover, and the closeness of my neighbors houses did not always provide excellent communication between the receiver and the mower. There are lots of inexpensive ways to improve the reception of the receiver such as using a cement or water or sand filled umbrella holder for a base and mounting the receiver to a wooden closet rod, or buying a portable flag pole such as those used by RV travelers, or even strapping the receiver to the side of a chimney. The mower base likes to be out in the open for best reception. I suppose you could keep it in the garage but I think you probably would have to open the garage door and move the mower/base outside to put it on auto-pilot-- not 100% sure about that-- which sort of defeats the automatic and programming features available on the unit. The mower didn't like being parked under an eve of the house due to satellite reception (pre new pole. Maybe it would work now with the improved receiver location). I didn't want the mower and base on the grass itself since we have short but heavy rains here and I didn't want it to drown. Plus keeping it on the grass would kill the grass under the charging base which building a stepping stone pad to move it an inch or two higher would not prevent. So I build it a home on the deck and then built a small ramp for it to get up and down off the deck. It does not need or want a lot of ramp (I think my ramp is about 6-8 inches long) since it begins to turn shortly after leaving the base and it handles the incline just fine. I do worry a little about theft. Someone could certainly just pick it up and throw it in a truck if they saw it unwatched in the front yard but it would be useless to them. The mower won't work at all without the base and receiver but how would they know that? The mower does have a recorded message if picked up. It also requires a passcode needed to restart it once picked up but again, how would a thief know that? Once it was all set up and the various issues were resolved, I have no complaints at all about this mower! It is a smart machine that does a fine job of mowing. It can manage a few small sticks and leaves just fine. Of course, pick up any large sticks. I also want to build a "garage" or small cover over it jut it give it a little shade since it is sooo hot down here but I think I might just buy a small patio table instead so I can have a double duty item on the deck- a table and a garage for the mower. The upshot is I love this mower. It's made my life a lot easier. It's quiet, cuts well, has has a lot of nice features.

Really nice robot lawnmower!
I am so delighted we went with the Ecovacs Goat. Some pertinent background; we live in Florida and let me tell you with our daily summer rainstorms our grass needs to be cut every 5 days or so. We only have grass in the front and on the sides of the house. The grass covers just under 1/4 acre. Set up out of the box was intuitive and pretty easy, in my opinion. I should note I do not consider myself exceptionally tech savvy either. I was able to sync with my home WiFi in under a minute. The unit updated for about 10 minutes and then it was time to sync with the satellites. The process was simple, the first time it only synced with 19 satellites but it was super easy to restart the process. The second time around I made sure I was more than 2 feet away. Worked like a charm! Once I had the unit synced with satellites. It was time to map our property. I found the process rather intuitive and honestly quite quick for what was taking place. After mapping was complete I let the robot charge to full and decided to run it for a cut. The robot did a beautiful job. Our lawn looked as good as if we had used the push mower ourselves. I really like that this ecovacs model doesn’t have a perimeter wire. I can’t imagine how time and energy intensive installing a perimeter wire might be. The real time GPS navigation is working flawlessly for us. Another cool feature is the LiDAR to detect obstacles and the subsequently avoid the obstacles. Our oldest son had left a hose out during a mow that we missed. The ecovacs robot avoided the hose thus saving us an expense replacing it. The ecovacs robot is surprisingly quiet, magnitudes upon magnitudes quieter than our push mower. It also has a zero cutting edge which actually works, we definitely will not have to edge every time we mow with how good this robot mows edges. The app is amazing and so easy to use. I can customize zones and schedule mowings all from the comfort of my house when I have a spare minute. Battery life was more than enough to finish mowing our whole lawn in one charge. Overall I am beyond delighted with the performance of this robot mower for all the reasons mentioned. I really did not find anything worthy of a complaint.

Might be worth waiting another year
Update: I am adding this update and dropped the rating because we bought a Segway Navimow 110 and it is flawless. Set up and mapping were easy. It actually mows non stop with no input. Camera actually detects obsticals, Adjust its cut directions 60* each time, MUCH better battery life. This has met the standard of what we expected. I’ll start off by saying, when this thing works we loved it. Bought it with the expectation that it would regularly cut our lawn (less then 1/4 acre) for us and we could weed wack and mow here and there if needed for clean up. It has a pretty nice cut, missing strips sometimes but I adjusted the direction regularly (manually) and it generally got it next time. It generally does a good job making consistent cut lines back and forth, occasionally got stuck but only on steeper inclines where it ended up caught on something because it was struggling to turn. It ran at night multiple times flawlessly. It’s quiet, you really only hear the blades cutting the grass and that’s when you’re close to it. The set up was super quick, and the manual mapping didn’t give me too many issues. Minor downsides I found were that it really would need to spend 12+ hours cutting to get through everything. The dual blade one might be worth upgrade if you wanted it to minimize the cut time. I found that having it mow pretty much every day it actually did the job quicker likely because less cutting resistance extended battery. There is an option on the app to set and change mow direction but it only had an option to alternate weekly. I could see this tearing up the lawn when it makes its turns to come back if you were cutting every day. Probably a relatively easy software fix. I found adjusting the map boundaries to be more challenging than it should be. My neighbor has another brand that he can go into the app and pull or push boundary lines with his finger. The deal break for us was that it consistently lost its signal. We had 20-30 satellites and a “strong” connection. It would be mowing fine and then have errors like “lost rtk signal” or “out of bounds” even though it was dead center in the yard. It seemed to happen during the day consistently so I don’t know if it is overly sensitive to heat (hasn’t been over 85 but it is direct sunlight). Other times it would just stop, show in the app that it was in the charger and it would be somewhere else completely in the yard…sometimes still moving. Losing the signal caused sporadic behavior though. Support was OK, I only used the app messenger, did not try to call. Per their instructions I moved the RTK at least 3 times, remapped the whole yard probably 5-10 times. Did a hard reset to the mower, powered on and off time and time again. Ultimately ours has been having issues pretty much since it came out of the box and due to that it’s going back before the return period ends. I am tempted to buy another and hope we just got a dud and that is saying something but we might have to go with a different brand.

Great customer service and the latest model work great
November 2025 update: After communicating with customer support back and forth for weeks, I'm pretty sure the root cause is due to the RTK receiver not getting stable and solid signals. With 2-year product warranty, they shipped a brand-new replacement to me very quickly. They went above and beyond. I received a latest version of the mower. The new one is a game changer. With the dual lidar system, the mower is working great so far. But the drawback is that I can no longer see the satellite signal strength from the app, which I do not think is a good idea. Anyway, I'm impressed with their customer service, and I think the latest model is great if you have lots of trees around your lawn. ---------------------------- This robot mower stopped functioning correctly after just two months. The main issues are critical system failures that persist despite repeated attempts to fix them (I remapped the yard more than twice): • Navigation Failure: It constantly goes off the map and struggles to "scroll out" of the edge boundaries, often freezing mid-mow. • Connectivity: The unit consistently reports a poor signal from the receiver, which seems to cause the mapping errors. • Customer Support: Trying to resolve these issues was difficult due to slow customer service. Responses took at least one day per inquiry, making troubleshooting a painful process. Overall, this has been an extremely bad experience with a costly product.

Smarter Lawn Care!
Review: ECOVACS Goat O1000 RTK I’ll be honest, I wasn’t sure what to expect when I decided to try a robot lawn mower. I’ve had robot vacuums and loved the convenience, but mowing the lawn always felt like one of those chores that couldn’t really be automated properly. After a few weeks with the ECOVACS Goat O1000 RTK, I’ve completely changed my mind. This thing isn’t just a gadget—it’s a genuine game changer for anyone who’s tired of spending weekends behind a mower. Unboxing and First Impressions The first thing that stood out to me was the packaging. This mower didn’t just show up tossed in a box with some foam around it—ECOVACS clearly put thought into how it’s presented. Everything was tightly packed, protected, and easy to find. The mower itself looked like something out of a sci-fi movie when I pulled it out—sleek, modern, and surprisingly compact. Even the accessories had their own organized compartments, which made the whole setup feel less intimidating. I’ve unpacked my share of outdoor gear that comes with missing pieces or confusing instruction sheets. Not here. The instructions were straightforward, everything was labeled clearly, and nothing felt like a mystery part. From unboxing to having it charging at the dock in my yard, the entire process took me maybe an hour—and most of that was just deciding where to put the docking station. Setup Without the Hassle What really blew me away is how little setup this mower needs. If you’ve looked at robot mowers before, you probably know a lot of them require you to install perimeter wires around your entire yard. That was always the dealbreaker for me—I don’t have the time or patience to dig wires into the ground just to try a mower. The Goat O1000 doesn’t need any of that. Instead, it uses RTK GPS to figure out your yard. I set the dock up in a good spot with a clear view of the sky, hit start, and watched it map the lawn. It drove around slowly and carefully, building a digital layout in the app. Within no time, I had a complete map of my yard, and the mower was ready to go. It felt almost too easy compared to what I expected. Build and Design The Goat O1000 looks like a modern piece of tech, not a clunky machine you’d be embarrassed to leave in the yard. It has a low profile that helps it slip under trees and bushes, and the wheels have enough grip to handle bumps and slight hills without spinning out. The body feels solid and durable—like it’s built to handle outdoor life without me worrying about every little scratch. The dock is compact, weather-resistant, and blends in better than I thought it would. It doesn’t take over the space like a huge charging shed; it’s more like a small station that tucks into the background. The First Mow When it started mowing, I expected it to wander randomly like some early robot vacuums I’ve seen. Instead, it moved in neat, organized patterns, making sure every strip of grass was covered. It didn’t rush, and it didn’t miss spots. After it finished, my lawn looked more evenly cut than it usually does when I mow it myself. What really impressed me was how close it gets to the edges. With other robot mowers, you usually have to come back with a trimmer to fix the borders, but this one has edge-trimming built in. It actually goes right up to the boundaries without leaving that frustrating uncut strip. I still do a little touch-up trimming in tight corners, but it’s minimal compared to before. Wire-Free Freedom This is where the Goat really earns its keep. No wires. No staking, burying, or fiddling with boundaries. The GPS-based mapping is accurate enough that it knows exactly where to stop and turn, even around landscaping and obstacles. It handles trees, flower beds, and furniture gracefully, slowing down and moving around them instead of bumping and backing like a clumsy machine. It even detects smaller objects like toys or sticks in the grass. Instead of chewing them up, it stops or goes around. That gives me peace of mind when I forget to pick up everything before it starts. App and Smart Features The app is surprisingly intuitive. From my phone, I can check the mowing schedule, see a live map of what it’s doing, or set it to focus on certain zones. It’s as simple as picking areas on the map and telling it where to go. I’ve used this when only one section of my lawn needed a quick touch-up, and it worked perfectly. Scheduling is easy—you just pick days and times, and it takes care of the rest. I even tried voice control through Alexa, and it worked smoothly. It feels futuristic to just say “start mowing” and hear it come to life outside. Quiet and Safe The first time it ran, I was shocked at how quiet it is. Compared to a regular gas mower, this is almost silent. I could have a conversation outside while it was working without raising my voice. That means I can run it early in the morning or in the evening without annoying anyone. Safety was another concern, especially with kids and pets in the yard. The mower has sensors that shut the blades off immediately if it’s lifted or tilted. It also stops if something suddenly crosses its path. Watching it in action, I feel confident letting it run without worrying about accidents. Battery and Maintenance Battery life is solid—it easily handles my yard on one charge. For bigger lawns, it automatically returns to the dock, recharges, and picks up where it left off. I didn’t have to do a thing. Maintenance has been minimal. The blades are easy to replace when needed, and aside from brushing off the occasional clump of grass, I haven’t had to mess with it much. It keeps itself charged and ready to go, so it feels truly hands-off. Value and Convenience Yes, the Goat O1000 is an investment. But when I think about the time I’ve saved and how much better my lawn looks without me sweating through weekend mow sessions, it feels completely worth it. My yard actually looks healthier because the mower trims a little at a time, instead of hacking it all down once a week. It’s one of those purchases where the convenience becomes part of your daily life—you stop thinking about mowing altogether. The Downsides It’s not completely perfect. Tight corners still need an occasional trim, and if your yard is heavily wooded or has weak GPS signals, you might need to experiment with dock placement. But compared to laying down perimeter wires or pushing a mower for hours, these feel like small trade-offs. Final Thoughts After using the ECOVACS Goat O1000 RTK, I can’t imagine going back to mowing the old way. From the easy unboxing to the effortless setup, to watching it quietly glide around the yard like it knows exactly what it’s doing—it’s been a genuinely impressive experience. My lawn looks great, I spend almost no time maintaining it, and I’ve freed up hours every week to actually enjoy being outside instead of pushing a mower around. If you’re on the fence about trying a robot mower, this one makes it easy. No wires, no headaches, just a well-built, smart machine that does what it promises. It’s not cheap, but if you value your time and want a lawn that looks consistently cared for, the Goat O1000 is worth every penny.
