Fits Ascent 1700
Works as described. Using a C-Clamp helps, but removing it, just push the center of it inward and it will pop-off, you don't need tools. I got a swallow C-Clamp and worked for the bottom joint, but for the top, you need a deeper clamp, I just used the top of my head and pressed towards it and it worked. Wear a beanie, it lessens the pain.

High quality, but difficult to install
This is the second time my Thule hinge has broken, so now both hinges are replacements. These replacement hinges are better quality than the originals, and tougher. But they are difficult to install! I wasn't strong enough to get it to pop onto the ball socket. My brother and I managed it by holding the thule box up in its end, placing a brick on the outside of the box behind the hinge, and hammering it on with a rubber mallet, but even then it took another 20 minutes of trying and a lot of force before it finally popped on. I wish it had some sort of twist on feature instead.

Great price and works perfect
This fits as it should and works great. The removal and installation was kinda rough but that’s the nature of the beast. It seems to be built better than the original, weighs the same, and a great value.

Fits First Gen. Thule Adventurer (Narrow Side)
I am using it on the narrow side of a first generation Thule Adventurer that originally came with gas struts—now discontinued. The lift hinge performs well. The installation was nearly identical to a gas strut except the amount of force to install it. On a gas strut you remove a clip, slip it over the ball stud and reattach the clip. The lift hinge requires a lot of force to push it over the ball stud. I tried several methods but highly recommend a 6” -clamp. Generically, reviews of this style of lift hinge across all Thule cargo box applications report a high level of failures due to the plastic breaking. Since this is my only option, I purchased a second one to keep in my cargo box (with c-clamp) as a backup.

This fit my Thule Force XL perfectly. As others have said, it's hard to get on, but I think it needs to be hard to get on or it would just pop off when using it. I was able to use a large pair of channel lock pliers with a wood block to attach it. I would definitely buy this product again.

It’s a prefect replacement for the Thule Atlantis 1200. Another site showed installation with a 4” c-clamp style vice grip, and that was awesome advice (it takes a lot of force to get it seated on the ball joints and the vice grip works perfectly…pretty much impossible to install without it)
