I love the free seeds, but after researching I know why I got free seeds: because >80% of dried seeds don’t sprout. Mine were dry. I’d ask for a refund but I should have done my research ahead of time. One star for packaging and free seeds.

I was a bit concerned when I received these seeds. The reviews were great, but my seeds arrived dry. I saw a lot of information saying how important it is not to let them dry out. The internet also said to keep the seeds in the fridge to emulate winter. I did not do that. I went ahead and planted them. It took at least a month, maybe a little more but so far, 6 of the maybe 10 seeds that I received have began growing roots. The internet warned me about making sure you plant the seeds in a larger container because the taproot needs plenty of room, and the root will grow before anything else shows on top. They supposedly hate root tampering so make sure you go ahead and plant in a larger pot. Ask chatgpt about planting advice when it comes to the specific seeds you get and climate in your area. I prayed over my seeds too.

I planted my whole pack (15+) after stratifying and got 6 to germinate via the paper towel method and planted those in tall grow bags to grow through the summer. I'm happy with this germination rate. You need at least 2 for fruit in 5 years or so depending on how happy they are where you put them. You need patience with these seeds. Stratifying and sprouting takes a long time. Then, even though I knew they were germinated when I planted them, it took them a long time to send anything up above the soil since they first send the taproot down. Then a loop appears above the soil and the growing tip finally separates from the seed ( the seed often gets pulled up and is left on the surface). Because of the long taproot, these are best planted in a deep pot (12" or more) and then transplanted when quite young. There are good tutorials online - do some research on it.

My wife got these because she has some romantic notion about the fruit. I personally am like 'these things don't fruit for like five-to-ten-years!'. Still, it's an investment in my children's future, so I'll plant trees today that my kids will eat from when they are getting ready for High-school.

Seeds were much smaller than seeds seen in their photo and on Youtube videos and none germinated. I followed all the directions in videos with cold stratification and planting.Almost all of my chestnuts and white oaks grew nicely with similar treatment so I think they were very poorly formed seeds.

Nice well packages, just what i wanted

This is my second purchase of the paw paw seeds and by following the detailed directions I was able to get about 90% of them to sprout. Going to add another crop this spring to my native orchard project.
