Easy setup, good range
Ok, I was freaking out at first and was getting rather frustrated because the darn antenna would not power on. I checked other PoE devices and they all worked. I reached out to tech support and when I went back to check on things, the antenna had powered up and came online. I guess I simply wasn't waiting long enough. It was easily 5 minutes on my first attempts, but it was over 7 minutes when it finally worked. So at least on the first boot up, be patient. It will come online if you just leave it be. Router to the included PoE injector (because it has special power needs it can't be driven by a PoE switch). Then the PoE injector to the antenna. It is that simple. We are able to send text and pictures from well over 250 feet away. After that it gets to be hit or miss. But it will grab a connection here and there from almost 400 feet away and any pending WhatsApp or Messenger messages will go at that time. All in all, very happy.

Very strong signal!
My ultimate goal is to put this outside near the edge of our property to get a signal where it is now very weak. Currently the mesh network inside our house barely reaches the device I have out there and so it drops off regularly. Since it's quite cold out, for the time being I've done some other testing. Set up is quick and straightforward. I had it configured and working in under 15 minutes. I hooked it up indoors, in my computer room a couple feet away from my primary mesh node. I plugged it directly in to my switch, just like the mesh node. I then ran speedtest from my phone, once with the mesh network and once with the EAP110. The results were shocking! The EAP was getting 50 Mbs while the mesh network was getting 40 Mbps. I then went to different locations inside the house, in different rooms. We have two other mesh nodes in the house providing full coverage. To my phone, the signal from the EAP was as strong or stronger than the mesh signals in most locations. Being extremely happy with these results, I moved the EAP into my garage, and pointed one of the antennas in the direction of the device with the weak signal I was ultimately trying to reach. Again, the signal strength was stronger than what it had been receiving from the closest indoor mesh node. This should be good enough until the weather gets warmer and I can move it outdoors closer to the device and set it up as I intended. Also note, I'm using some bigger high gain antennas that I had. Update 6/2/2025 So, after a year and a half, I finally moved it out of the garage to the outdoor location I had originally intended. I am even more impressed with it now, as the signal range I am getting across my ~4 acre property is astounding. If you have line of sight, you can go very far from it and still have a good signal and decent bandwidth. As you can see in my photos, the final location is atop my very old C-Band dish that I've repurposed as a huge monopod which has 2 Tapo cameras, an air quality monitor, and now the Omada Access Point. All of my cables, power, and network devices are in a weatherproof box buried at the base of the dish. Since these are so inexpensive, I just purchased another to install on the other side of our property so we can be bathed with a strong wifi signal no matter where we are outdoors. I couldn't be more happy with this device. The bang for the buck is off the charts. I may need to buy a third one, just to keep as a spare.

Works great after some updates
Initially, I thought this was a dud. Wifi was spotty and had to reset at least daily. Only stayed connected for and hour or so then lost signal. Had to completely go through set up each time. After several weeks of frustration and searching the internet for fixes, I finally found how to update the firmware to the latest version. That fixed it. Now that it's updated, it works great. I've had a steady connection for about 2 months now. I also contacted TP-Link support and a real person responded within 24 hours.

Huge security vulnerability. Stay away
I bought this to get some coverage on my property where I don't need a WiFi signal often but when I do it's annoying not to have it. At this price point the EAP110 fit the bill just fine. Setup was too easy (more on that in a second) and it did what I expected it to do, provide access to my network and the internet from a spot it was impossible before. Fast forward a few months and I am troubleshooting some unrelated WiFi issue from my phone when I noticed an unsecured access point with a cryptic TPLINK_abcdef SSID and a strong signal. Probably related to a power outage a few days earlier, the access point had reset itself to a default state. And default state means it got an IP through DHCP from my network, default admin password, and yes, wide open WiFi access without a password! In what universe is unsecured, unlimited open WiFi access a default state? So there I was providing free access to my internal network and the internet to my neighbors and any joe shmoo passing by. To add insult to injury, I couldn't even check if anyone was connected because upon first login it required me to setup the system again before being able to do anything else like check the connected client list. So I guess now security is important? In short, very easy to setup because by default there is zero security. It will randomly put itself back into that insecure state so you better keep an eye on it.

Perfect for our 4 acre property to connect cameras
First I tried WiFi extenders to get to WiFi cameras out by our barn, but signal was very iffy. I put this on a high point on one side of our home and now I can access wifi outside with good direct line of sight for about 150-250 feet. I can get spotty signals much further out, but things did improve by playing with the antennas and using a wifi strength app. This is commercial grade, and has many features with the Omada system that I will never use. Basically you have an antenna that you run a ethernet cable to a PPOE plug in adapter and then out with another cable to the antenna. You can wire it pretty far out with cable so it does not have to be close to the powered adapter. I think you can also run it as an unwired access point, but you still need power to it and I did not set up that way.

it works, good speed. 285 feet range to a camera
I rate it high. its outside on a pole about 8 ft high. I built a wooden birdhouse looking cover over it to keep rain, snow, wasps etc away from it. Been using it 1 month. this TPlink AP is connected to 200 ft direct burial CAT6 from the switch, which is in the garage. Also have a couple of ethernet surge protectors in the mix , at each end. I get decent line of sight WIFI signal, until i cross a wire fence, then signal goes to nothing. speakeasy.net/speedtest says I get almost the same speed as indoor wifi next to router. Can't complain. I use Tplink switches, and am ordering a tp-link c402 solar outdoor camera. I named the SSID the same as the router's indoor SSID and same password. Update: The TP link C402 outdoor camera has good signal strength at 285 feet from the access point . -59 RSSI.

10/100 Ethernet? You will never get full speed from the 300N wireless. Misleading advertising.
Update: im not changing my star rating due to the misleading advertising mentioned below but i figured out why it wireless clients got a very slow connection. I assume this was operating on a 2.4ghz channel that was at capacity and was fighting a lot of interference. after trying this items big brother that also includes 5Ghz i ran into the same issue with the access point also. I finally ended up with a similar style ubiquiti access point that is working fantastic, it started out with the same issues but the ubiquiti software needed to configure the access point included a site survey utility that examines the channels and shows their current capacity, most of the channels except 8 were at capacity and getting a lot of interference. i set the access point to run on channel 8 and my issues resolved themselves, my outdoor wifi cameras are working great so far and im getting about 90Mbps over the 2.4Ghz band. these are likely good access points but you will need something to examine the 2.4Ghz band to see what channel is least used. Android phones have apps that can do this, never seen an IOS app for this function. long story short, if it works like crap, check the channel, if the channel is good than is just crap... TP-Link needs to build a utility into the firmware for this function. if you get the 5Ghz enabled version of this, channels are not so much of a concern for that band as of yet, in the future they may get crowded enough to cause issues. Horrible product for any modern network. I purchased this as an outdoor access point for my WiFi security cameras, I figured with a max or 300mbps over wireless or could handle a few cameras, after getting this setup and the cameras connected I noticed the cameras were very laggy. I spent a while trying to figure out why and found that the top speed I could get with one wireless client connected to the access point is about 50 mbps (300mbps internet), I found this odd so I looked at the specs of the access point and was shocked to find the Ethernet port was just a 10/100mbps port. To be fair it does say this in the description but why would they say this is a 300N access point meaning a max of 300mbps when they knowingly bottlenecked this device by omitting a gigabit Ethernet port. Blatant misleading advertising in my opinion. Im a believer in TPLink equipment buy this was a letdown, getting the AC1200 version of this that has a gigabit port.

it worked
The cat5 cable included with the access point didn't work. Took me a while to figure out why the unit wasn't working, Once it tested the cable and mad a new one, the unit was easy to install and works great.

not a good value for money
a much cheaper product wr840n does a better job, same transmit power with additional AP capabilities, DHCP etc, just install it in a weather proof box and it becomes OUTDOOR

AP relay only
This is not a router, there is no DHCP server on this item. You need to connect it to a router for a network client to work properly. The WIFI relay component works great. I use the relay to control a raspberry pi robot/rover running outside my home from the 2nd floor of my house and I could get easily get 50 Meter of range for video, telemetry, video and control channels. This is a bandwidth intensive application. You can probably reach 100 Meter range for regular web surfing without obstruction. The Instructions are clear and the network setup is quite easy. All the physical hardware is functional and well built. Good product. As usual TP-Link provides good stuff a reasonable price. Thanks
