I think you will enjoy this book
If you are a horse lover and\or an animal lover, I think you will enjoy this book. I note the age level for this book stated for ages 9-12, but I am far beyond that and read it with interest, being a horse person. There is a certain sadness in this book - politics and the Bureau of Land Management have long devalued American wild horses, captured them from their homelands, and allowed them to be sold and sent for slaughter - since the cattle industry in the western states was all too eager to grab up those leases on BLM federal land for their own use. Fortunately for J.B. Andrew he found someone that appreciated him and nurtured his considerable talents, and provided a home with love - a lesson for all of us when we consider how to help the many unwanted animals in our country.

All horses have abilities
Like people, you just have to find what they enjoy and are good at. This is a wonderful story of horse people who looked beyond fancy breeding to the heart, soul, and capabilities of the individual animal, and who excelled in a competitive and, at times, appearance-obsessed sport. Kudos to both of his owners for what they achieved with Andy, not in spite of him. I do have to wonder if he would have scored better in his tests if people had thought he was a Holsteiner or another European warm blood. Friesians and Friesian sport crosses, as well as other "American" warmbloods, face the same prejudice today in the dressage ring. Regardless, a well-written, factual account of a remarkable horse who had remarkable owners and riders.

Amazing book!!!
I chose this rating because this book has ups, downs, twists and turns. It makes you cry with tears of sorrow and joy. The only thing I disliked was that Andy was captured and went through a lot of trouble to become a star Dressage horse. This book would be great for anyone who either has experience with dressage, wants to try it, or is a higher level dressage rider. It is great for time away from the barn, and great for at the barn when your horse might be in the pasture. Read it or not, this is a great book. :)

I really enjoyed reading this
This true story was simply wonderful, good reading and in this case, it was something that I did not know about. I love true stories about animals and usually keep up with the news about horses, horse shows and races but I missed this one! It was very well written and the details revealed in it added so much to this story, I highly recommend it! Plus it was refreshing to read something where there was no blood, guts, murder and explicit sex written into it. This book would be good for teens, too!

Enjoyable reading
Informative and entertaining book. Brings good publicity to the BLM Wild Horse and Burro program and the WHIP program. These horses are wonderful mounts for any endeavor. The commitment and passion for Andy by both trainer and then owner came through easily in the way Andrekson told the story. Nice reading.

Mustang Magic
Mustangs are my favorite breed of horses. I admire all they have been through. J B Andrew became the greatest ambassador for wild mustang the breed has ever known. He had been trained as a colt as part of the inmate prison program (JB stands for jailbird).JB Andrew was trained to be a dressage horse loved by two women.

Good read for horsecrazy pre-teens
I think that this book was rated for pre-teen readers, and I would recommend it for someone of that age group if you are horse crazy! Overall, well written, the author did their research, and it is a good book.

For anyone who loves horses....
This book is quite short as it is intended for the younger reader but I found the book a good read none-the-less. It is the inspiring story of the only (at the time) wild mustang to rise to the top ranks of dressage completion. I had no idea of the complexities of training for the various levels of dressage until I read this book.
