This item provided the answer to a couple of issues. Firstly, the standard chrome-finished drain outlet in my shower had corroded and looked a bit unsightly. I didn't want the hassle of taking out and replacing the drain unit so this sits perfectly on top of the drain but looks like it was always there and is very sturdily made and heavy. Secondly, hair was regularly clogging up the drain and it was a pain to keep pulling out the insert, cleaning it and reinstalling it. This device filters all the hair and, very importantly, does not significantly reduce the flow rate of the drain. You know it's time to clean off the hair when you see the drain flow slowing and this is easily done by simply picking up the unit in your hand, cleaning off the hair from the filter and replacing it back on top of the drain. Fits all standard shower/bath outlets. Life's a lot easiler and quicker now.

This is a great find. If you have people in your household with long hair you need one of these in your shower. This traps moulted hair a treat and as a result reduces the number of times you need to unblock your shower drainage. For the price it's amazing. The chrome top is good quality and looks good in any shower with chrome fixtures. The grill underneath is plastic, which is not as durable, as the top but is still quite sturdy and mine is still in good working order over a year on and daily use.

When I first came upon this drain cover I wasn’t impressed - it looked ‘plasticy’ and light. I just wasn’t sure it would work. However it does in our situation & and I am mostly pleased with it. So I rate it with 4-stars. Some of my family members have annoying obscene amounts of long, flowing hair. Not me, I’m bald. This is just as well, as this alleviates me from the blame of bathtub drain blockages. Yet, despite my visible blamelessness, somehow I’m still the designated person to solve the recurring congestion AND to think about prevention measures. Life is unfair. The plastic appearance of this hair catcher/cover on the listing page was mostly due to the blister packaging. In fact, the cover is made of a somewhat heavy metal that is finished with shiny chrome top layer. Before ordering I took measures of our drain and there was a good chance that it would fit over it. Although I wasn’t sure if the drain’s closing mechanism would subsequently lift the cover when in place. Despite this uncertainty and the fairly high £9 price I decided to take the risk. After all- the issues with my hairy-shedding woolly family members would not resolve itself without measures. The cover arrived in plastic foil attached on a typical cardboard back. Since I wasn’t sure about the purchase I managed to remove it with a sharp hobby knife, without damaging the packaging so that I could return it ‘unopened’. However this wasn’t necessary; it works and fits perfectly at least in our set up. The thing is that the drain hole in our bath is a little sunken in shallow cavity therefore this cover fits perfectly over the existing drain cover and stays in place. Its weight is sufficient to keep it that way. Also when the drain cover lifts to open it can still do so without simultaneously lifting the new cover. So I’m quite pleased also because aesthetically it looks as if it’s part of the bath fitting. Installation is a breeze; you just have to put it in place. Two comments though; i.) the openings on the side are fairly large so dirt and smaller hair will still enter your drain. I might rectify this by adding a small strip of plastic insect mesh on the inside. ii.) Our chrome top of the hair cathcer came with a non-shiny/matt spot, probably from the packing, storage or transport.. slightly annoying and a small eye sore. Though not enough to return it. In fact I will order another one for the second bathroom and one for our holiday home abroad. So for us this worked really well. But I can’t guarantee it does so for other type of bath and shower drains.

I already had a hair catcher thingy in my shower but although it did the job of catching hair, it also resulted in water/foam build up and I had to be careful to keep an eye on it so that the shower didn't overflow. Being made of rubber, it wasn't the prettiest of things either, which I thought spoiled the look of my lovely new chrome and white bathroom. Although I feel this is a bit expensive for what is basically a plug cover, it looks like it belongs in the shower and is almost identical to the original ordinary plug cover which came with the shower. It does the job intended and catches hair without the water build up. All in all, I am more than pleased with it. I have been so pleased with this item that I have now purchased a second one for use in our other shower. Although my old one seemed to do the job properly, either I am losing a lot more hair than I used to, or this is more efficient.

When I first opened it I was disappointed that the catcher part is plastic, not metal and wasn't at all sure about keeping it but it fit nicely over my shower plug hole and looked good so I did. A few days later, my shower tray was getting deep in water, surprised, I checked out the catcher and it was full of hair and soap which was preventing the water going down, it had worked too well ! It was easy to clean though so I am very pleased with it. I'll just be sure to clean it out more often than the old one!

Nice to cover the drain to catch the mess/ hair but the quality of plastic used is very cheap. However, it good for its purpose.

My bath plug had started to tarnish, so bought this to pop over the top. It collects all the hair, great little gadget! Easy to clean, just be careful you don’t trip over it as it is quite big! If it starts to tarnish I’ll let you know.

Comperato per nascondere vecchio tappo in ottone e perche' no per evitare che capelli e peli finiscano nello scarico; combina alla perfezione con l'incavo presente sulla vasca. Sufficientemente pesante, rimane al suo posto ma ovviamente se sollecitato si sposta. Super soddisfatta. Ok Amazon veloce come sempre.

This thing is WONDERFUL. It’s big enough to go over my drain or, I imagine, most drains. It does it’s job beautifully - catches hair (I have long hair and it sheds whenever I apply conditioner!) It’s SUPER easy to clean. Pick it up and just wipe off the hair with a tissue. You can tell when it’s time to clean it out bc the water doesn’t drain as well. There is NO installation. Open ye packing and put the thing on top of your drain. VIOLA! I wish I found this product sooner!

We’ve tried several hair catchers for our tub/shower combo and this is the one we really liked amongst all coz it is heavy enough to not be moved out of place by running water from tub’s faucet and it does not float, so it’s able to catch a good amount of hair. We are very satisfied with this product.

I purchased this drain catcher specifically to prevent hair from going down the drain, but unfortunately, it did not work as expected. Instead of staying in place over the drain, it floated on the water during my shower. Because it doesn't remain securely positioned, hair can easily pass underneath and go down the drain, defeating the entire purpose of a hair catcher. I expected a stainless steel drain stopper to be heavy enough to stay put, but that was not my experience. Unfortunately, this product did not effectively catch hair in my bathtub, and I would not recommend it based on my experience.
