Once I read the instructions as to how it SHOULD fit, that is, not snug, but with a bit of space, it fits great. (I returned the first one I ordered since it fit well, I thought, but it fit snugly, and when I read the instructions, decided that really I should get the next size up. I had ordered a small, and went with a medium instead. You want it a bit loose, so it stays comfortable to wear, perhaps all day. If there is a wind, you use the strap that is otherwise tucked up inside the hat to keep it from blowing off.I LOVE this hat. It is very functional, comfortable, and also stylish. I wear it when hiking and traveling about, and it serves well when traveling as it is good for the hikes, but also good for being in town or villages. It goes anywhere easily. It also packs very well. I want the one with black now, also.

This is the perfect hat for me. It goes with skirts or pants when hiking. It breathes and has a cord in case the wind comes up, which it usually does here. I have a very small head and it if hard to find a hat that offers different sizes. You can't go wrong with Tilley brand hats. The quality is great, and you can wash them!
