Retevis RT22 Long Range Walkie Talkies for Adults Rechargeable (4 Pack)

We purchased this family pack of walkie talkies for a recent family cruise, and they ended up being one of the most useful items we brought along. With multiple family members—especially the ones who love to wander off and explore—it made staying connected so much easier and gave us peace of mind knowing we could quickly check in with each other without relying on Wi-Fi or expensive cruise messaging apps. The sound quality was excellent—crystal clear with no static during most of our trip—and communication was simple and reliable. Battery life was also impressive; they held a charge really well throughout the day, which was important since we were constantly on the go and didn’t want to worry about recharging them. They also feel very durable and well-made, like they can handle plenty of travel and family adventures for years to come. For the price, this was an incredible value, and they’ve officially become a must-pack item for every cruise we take from now on. The only issue we ran into was when part of our family was on Deck 1 while the rest were up on the Lido deck. Apparently they were trying to reach us several times, but the calls never came through on our end. I assume the multiple ship decks and steel walls may have interfered with the signal. Thankfully, that was the only time we experienced any trouble, and overall performance was excellent. Overall, I’d highly recommend these for cruises, theme parks, camping, or any family trip where staying connected matters. They made coordinating a large group much easier and were absolutely worth the purchase.

These walkie talkies worked out better than I could have imagined! Easy to charge and the range is great! We used these for our camping/beach vacation so we had one up at camp, one at the beach and one on the boat. Easy to use, easy to change to a different channel. They are small, not bulky and the charge lasted at least 3 days! I never had to recharge them the whole time we were there. So glad I bought these. It made things so much nicer for communication!

The Retevis RT22 Two Way Radio Twin Pack has been an absolute hit in our neighborhood! I originally got these to keep track of my kids when they play outside, and they have far exceeded expectations in terms of range and performance. These are incredibly easy to use—truly push-to-talk simplicity, which is perfect for children. The rechargeable batteries are a huge plus; they hold a charge for a long time, meaning less hassle with disposable AAs. They are also lightweight and durable enough to survive being dropped on pavement, which is a common occurrence around here. Now for the fun part: the long range is excellent. My kids can easily talk to their friends three houses down, across the street, or even when playing in the local cul-de-sac. This has facilitated an epic level of inter-neighborhood coordination, which is exactly what I wanted! However, a quick note to other parents: they are so clear and easy to operate that you will be constantly hearing updates about tree forts and scavenger hunts, leading to a delightful, low-level buzz of static excitement around your home. Consider them a fun upgrade to neighborhood play—just don't expect much peace and quiet during the summer! For a reliable, long-range, and incredibly fun set of walkie-talkies, the Retevis RT22 is a five-star purchase.

I really like these little radios, but there are some caveats for the general buyer I should hasten to add. First and most important: these radios are configured by default with CTCSS or DCS squelch codes on EVERY CHANNEL. Yes, they are using the standard FRS 1-16 channels, but if you want to be able to use these with any other radios, they will need to be configured to use those same codes for a given channel. For example: you hand these radios out to family/friends and you can all talk to each other just fine. If someone else uses a Motorola Talkabout (or anything else) they will hear your transmissions but you won't hear theirs...unless they add the same codes to their radios. For me, this was not a problem. I'm an Amateur Radio Operator (HAM) and I already program my other handheld radios. The Baofeng standard USB cable and the free CHIRP software works perfectly to configure these. I therefore removed all the squelch codes except for channel 16 (in case there's a bad RF situation) and these now work with all our FRS radios. The radios themselves seem decently rugged and idiot-proof. Simple controls and bright orange color means these will be good for deploying to almost anyone, and harder to lose. Range is OK. audio is just OK (mic as heard on other radios and audio out via speaker) during lots of different testing scenarios. These are NOT Motorola Talkabout equivilent, but they are a great deal for the around $10/radio that I paid for them. The USB-C recharge port is a great feature, and the beltclip holder seems very nice. If you don't need field programmability and you want a simple, easy to deploy radio, these are great, as long as you realize they won't work with other radios as delivered.

This is my second time buying these. The first set is still working but my kids lost two of them. My son and daughter take them when they go to their friends house or go around the neighborhood. The range is excellent. Even around houses and hills in our neighborhood I can communicate with them at least a mile away. One of the walkies that was lost was apparently left in a friend’s back yard for a month or two in various weather (snow, rain, heat...). When it was found and returned, I cleaned it up, took the battery out and made sure everything was dry, then charged it and it works just fine. Another feature that I really like about these are how simple they are. I’ve had other walkies with extra unnecessary buttons and features. These have a single knob for power/volume, a talk button, and up and down buttons to change channels from 1-16.
