Awesome art object....
I have had this for about a month now, taking my time to get to know more about guqin lore and this instrument in particular. I am no expert so can only comment on the service - excellent, the instrument was well packaged and the seller very helpful in replying to a couple of questions - and also the actual instrument. It has no blemishes or other faults, the appearance is pristine even after a long journey from China to the UK. The tone is good (as far as I can tell compared to recordings for example.) It comes with steel/nylon strings rather than silk though obviously they can be changed anytime. Not ever having seen a guqin for real before, just videos and pictures, I was in awe of the instrument as it emerged from the extensive packaging. I remain awestruck :) It is a beautiful object, rather like a piece of furniture in its presence in the room, like a piano would be for example. It came supplied with a tutor book though that is in Chinese - might be a while to decipher :) Meanwhile, I bought this book by Juni Yeung: Standards of the Guqin and also Jim Binkley's interesting translation (less instructional but full of guqin lore): Abiding With Antiquity ...enough to be going on with. For the price of a standard western steel-string guitar, you can enter a past world - classical China, Daoists and Confucious, rivers and mountains. I believe though that the instrument, despite or perhaps because of its simplicity, makes some spiritual demands of the player.

Beautiful. A long wait well worth it.
This was intended to be a gift for someone else. Due to it taken so long to be delivered from china, I missed the deadline so had to give the person a different gift.I requested a return and a full refund. After a while, I looked on the internet and you tube to look into more about this instrument and decided I would like to learn to play this instead! So I am now the proud owner of a Guqin (Must find someone who speaks chinese to learn the proper pronunciation). This was a VERY long wait what with the coronavirus but I must admit it was well worth the wait.My first reaction was to contact the seller (Hongri) and demand a full refund. I then decided to keep this instead of returning it.I made the right descison... so if you have ordered one of these during the virus... please be patient. It will arrive and you will have missed out on an amazing, beautiful instrument if you don't show patience!May you have as much hassle as me trying to find an English translation to learn to play this :)But then again... theres always you tube. :):):):):)

Lovely tone, great sustain! Impressed!
Beautiful sounding instrument. It's a shame it didn't come with the blanket like in the picture, but I am really very impressed with the rich, full and bassy tones, long sustain, stable tuning and easy playing action. Having said that, I've not tried any other qin in my life, but for a beginner this is definitely a wonderful instrument. Arrived promptly too!
