Reasonable Pulling Power but no Treasures 😉
I ordered this magnet in an attempt to redeem myself. How, you may wonder? I was hoping to recover a metal side table that was blown into the water by one of our many storms. Since I was the one who forgot to secure the table, I was hoping that this magnet would redeem me. Oh, and there may be a few tools down there as well! The magnet is strong, especially on flat surfaces so be mindful of your fingers. I don’t have any tools to measure the strength of the magnet, but 1700 pounds? Really? I don’t know how such things are measured but this is obviously a huge exaggeration of what I experienced.I have a recommendation, one that should be obvious after looking at my photo. Cover the magnet surface with a plastic bag. The bag does not need to be waterproof. You just want to keep small items from sticking to the magnet that otherwise would be very difficult to remove. I have no explanation for why the sediment (rust, perhaps?) in my photo collects in a circle. It makes me wonder if the actual magnetic pull of the magnet is strongest there.Regardless, I discovered no missing side table, no tools on a walk about or any other sunken treasures awaiting my efforts. How disappointing for me. 😊 I’m sure that your “fishing” experience will be much better. Have fun!

This Magnet Means Business
I’ve been looking for a serious magnet for some time now, mostly for dragging the local river and seeing what lost treasures (or just plain junk) I can pull up. When I saw this Magnetpro with its 1700 lbs pulling force claim and a hefty 4.72-inch diameter, I figured it was worth a shot.Right out of the box, I was impressed. This isn't some toy. It's got some real heft to it, and the construction feels solid. The eyebolt is thick and screws in securely; I don't have any worries about it snapping off. Now, about that pulling force. I was a bit skeptical, as anyone would be with numbers that big. But let me tell you, this thing is strong. Seriously strong. I haven't tried to lift a small car with it, but it latches onto anything metal with a vengeance. I’ve pulled up old tools, a couple of discarded pipes, and even a submerged shopping cart that must have been down there for ages. It takes some muscle to get it off a flat steel surface if it gets a full grip, which is exactly what I was looking for.If there's any "dislike," it’s that you have to be careful with it. It’s so powerful that it'll grab onto things you might not expect, and you need to watch your fingers. But that’s not really a fault of the magnet; that’s just the nature of a tool this strong. It does its job, and it does it exceptionally well. For me, this is a five-star piece of equipment because it delivers on its promises. It’s incredibly powerful, built tough, and does exactly what I bought it for – pulling heavy, metallic objects out of the water. It’s a specialized tool, and for its specialty, it’s top-notch. No complaints here, just a lot of pulling power.

Powerfull
I've been using the Magnetpro Fishing Magnet with a 4.72-inch diameter and over 1700 lbs pulling force for several weeks, and it's proven to be a reliable tool for my magnet fishing activities. The magnet's strength is impressive; it easily retrieves heavy metal objects from rivers and lakes, making the process efficient and rewarding. The build quality is solid, with a sturdy eyebolt that provides a secure attachment point for ropes. The magnet's surface is smooth and well-finished, reducing the risk of snags during retrieval. Its compact size makes it easy to transport and handle, even during extended outings. One aspect to note is that while the magnet is powerful, it's essential to use a strong, durable rope to match its pulling capacity. Additionally, exercising caution during retrieval is important to prevent sudden snaps or jerks when the magnet attaches to large or heavy items.Overall, the Magnetpro Fishing Magnet offers excellent performance for hobbyists and enthusiasts looking to explore magnet fishing. Its strength and durability make it a valuable addition to any outdoor adventure toolkit.

A MAGNET SO POWERFUL IT BRIEFLY BECAME THE CENTER OF THE UNIVERSE
I didn’t buy this MAGNETPRO Neodymium Magnet for fishing, river treasure-hunting, or retrieving sunken safes. I bought it because I’m a little obsessed with magnets — and because I once watched my father, a chemist, use magnets in ways that felt closer to magic than science. When I brought this magnet into my son’s high school science lab for an experiment (a very well-equipped lab, with proper supervision), it was like dropping a neutron star into a flock of compasses. The students were stunned. The field strength was palpable feet away. Paper clips flew. Small metal tools clicked into alignment. At one point we had to evacuate a laptop. Everyone left a little wide-eyed, a little reverent. This magnet is no gimmick. It’s heavy, serious, and ridiculously strong. The pull force is real — we never tested the full 1700 lbs, but I believe it. It’s beautifully made, with a strong eyebolt for fishing or rigging, but you don’t need to go near a river to appreciate it. Just respect it. Don’t let kids near it unsupervised. And please — don’t even think about bringing it within breathing distance of anyone with a pacemaker. In short: this magnet isn’t for casual dabblers. But if you’re a science-minded parent, a high school physics teacher, or a curious soul with a taste for invisible forces, it might just become the most commanding object in the room. It certainly was in ours.[PS: the moment I took the magnet out of the foam packing in which it came wrapped, it sucked up my quite large, metal, pencils and tools holder, thereby knocking over my water and coffee on my laptop, phone and desk -- just saying.]
