Review: Beautifully designed, works great! - I was excited to see this product announced a month or so ago and immediately pre-ordered it. It came in two days ago and after playing with it for that amount of time, I can say that I'm extremely happy! Not a flaw with it. It fits so nicely against the PS3 frame that it looks like a part of the design. The finish matches the PS3 black mat just fine unless you shine a light directly on the unit, at which time you can see a subtle difference in color. The adapter snaps firmly into the vent holes underneat the USB ports and comes pre-configured with the 40GB adapter for the ease of most consumers (most purchasers of this will be 40GB PS3 owners). In fact it snap so easily into place I didn't even notice it happening, when I tried to remove it I could not until I figured out it had "locked in". The card reader also works great and adapts to several different types of memory cards, but mostly I use a media server or thumb drive to put media on my PS3, so that's not something I will use often. My PS3 purchase was for two reasons: Blu Ray and RockBand, so I figured I'd get the cheap 40GB one. When I got it home and saw it only had 2 USB's and no card reader (as opposed to the 80GB version) I was a bit upset, but my fault - I should have done better research. This hub has completely solved the problem in an attractive way while adding memory card functionality to boot - my powered USB hub with a crappy dongle has been officially retired! If you have 40GB PS3 and find yourself wanting a memory card reader, or more USB ports, this is the only thing to buy! Review: Looks good and works great - It snaps onto the front of your PS3 (but not the newer Slim model, I'm sure) and looks like it belongs there, adding two USB ports (not three, since it replaces one) that work good. I had used other USB hubs to try to play Rock Band with a full band, and sometimes the hub would work and sometimes it would drop out in the middle of a song. But this one stays working all the time. If you tug on the cables as you unplug things this might come loose, it doesn't snap in as firmly as you might like, but it's easy to push it right back into place.

Works and Looks Seemless with PS3
This product is perfect for those with 40GB PS3s or the new 80/120GB models. It adds another 2 USB ports (takes one away for the unit) and a memory card reader, bringing it in line with the older models in features expect for the backwards capability. It plugs into the bottom USB port and snaps into the air vent for a secure fit; also flush with the front and side of the PS3. Highly recommend it for any PS3 owner in need of more USB ports.

PS3 Media Hub +
The only thing that I found that was wrong with this product was the fact that it can't fit on the PS3 Slim. NYKO needs to make a similar one but for the PS3 Slim. Don't get me wrong but this product is really reliable but I thought it could work on my PS3 Slim but it don't.

It doesn't fit the newest PS3's units
BEWARE - - It should install without any problem, but it doesn't - It is the wrong shape and so won't insert completely into the PS3's USB port. As a result, I can't tell if it works or not. It is not an issue with the two little inserts (I tried them both & even without an insert)- It is that the Hub itself is too big / the wrong shape to fit the contour of the newest PlayStation 3 120 GB units, which have a smaller case than the original PS3 units. The product description doesn't make that clear. & It's not worth the shipping cost to send it back. - - Note: We just bought this PS3 console about 2 months ago from amazon, to replace an older PS3 with a dead disk drive; the old one had 4 USB ports, but the new PS3 has only 2 - & you can't plug in all the instruments for Rockband with just 2 USB ports. Guess we should've bought the 'official' rockband multiport USB adapter instead...

Good concept, poor application
USB ports don't carry enough power for operating too many devices, especially when they are drawing any kind of power to operate. I purchased this so I could plug multiple Rock Band devices into it, but it is not able to provide the necessary power for them to operate. What is weird is that when I use the Rock Band adapter (it plugs into one port and then has two more ports built in) I don't have any problems, but if I try to plug them into the media hub, they don't work. They also had an additional side effect of interfering with the PS3's internal wifi. I like the look of it when it's in, but it has basically become a card reader for my Play Station, which in itself isn't bad for the price, but not what I wanted.

Must-have for PS3 owners
I was deciding which USB hub to buy when I saw this. $15 is way more than most USB hubs, but this was a really elegant solution to the USB port problem. Not only does it hub the left USB port into 3 more ports (giving you a total of 4 ports), it also adds an SD card reader. The less-obvious benefit to this gadget is that it moves the ports out to be flush with the front of the PS3, instead of being inset by an inch or two under the front edge. This makes it much easier to plug things in quickly. The only con I have is that it does not clip in as securely as I would have liked. It comes un-clipped quite easily and seems flimsily attached. I may use a piece of double-sided tape or velcro to make it stay more securely. Overall, it's a great product and well worth the $15 pricetag.

Just what I needed!
I bought this because I have the 40gb PS3 and needed to not only charge my controllers but have a place for my thumbdrive. This thing has made my life alot easier, not only giving me the ports I need but bringing them up flush with the front of the device. Since my PS3 is on the bottom shelf of my entertainment center it was a bit hard to reach the usb ports without sprawling out on the floor. Anyhow, my only issue was with the device having a bit of a loose fit. I was worried I might damage something accidentally so to fix this I just added a peice of double stick tape to stop the wobble and all is well. A well deserved 5 out of 5.

RECOMENDABLE

Very good, used it for years
Does the job, been using it for years now. Does occasionally come unplugged from the PS3 when you are unplugging the USB cables from it. Just need to hold down with one hand on the hub to keep it in place whilst unplugging any cables. Shame they don't come in white to match my white PS3
