FANTASTIC! Tuners
I LOVE these tuners. I have them on my new ESP E-II Eclipse and a new Schecter C1-Classic. The ESP came with Gotoh auto locking tuners that are absolute crap imo. They are quirky in operation, and worse than that is that they don't hold tune. Even after a week of using new strings tuning would not stabilize. Even though the ESP is only about a month old I decided to get the Planet Waves locking tuners. I really prefer manual locking tuners as I know the string is locked because I locked it. I have manual locking tuners on my Fender Strat since 1991 and loved manual locking since then. The ESP with the Gotoh's would be out of tune the next day every time. After I installed the PW tuners the ESP now holds tune beautifully. Even if I don't get a chance to play the ESP for 3-4 days, I pick it up and it's in tune. Thank you Planet Waves. Goodbye Gotoh. On the Schecter C1-Classic it comes with really nice non locking Grover tuners. Grover makes excellent tuners and I've always had great experience with them. I was considering Grover locking tuners but the price on the PW's was too good to pass up. They work awesomely on the Schecter just as they do on the ESP. The PW's on the Schecter are gold and chrome on the ESP, and the finish on both sets is beautiful, right up there with even more expensive tuners. Some may not like the all black posts, but I actually like the contrast they give. Customer support from D'addario is great too. They make and distribute the Planet Waves tuners. I had a couple of questions and emailed their support. I got a response back within a day and my answers. Oh, and one more cool feature of these tuners. The excess string gets cut automatically by the PW tuners. It really does work. The first time I tried to use the tuners I bent the strings up 90 degree's like I always do and then I cut them manually. Well, since I bent the strings up only 1 string got cut properly and another got cut mostly, the rest didn't get cut. I was like, WTF? After looking at the cutting mechanism I realized that I need to leave the strings alone. Do NOT bend them, leave them coming straight out from the tuner. That way, as you turn the tuner to tighten the string, the string comes into contact with the cutting mechanism and cuts your strings one at a time. Works great. Feels odd at first as there is more force required to turn the tuner as the string hits the cutter. If you want stable tuning and smooooooth operation, and a high fine tune ratio, then get these tuners. I'm getting another set for my PRS semi hollow. And my '91 American Strat Plus Deluxe needs new tuners. The locking Schallers are a fantastic tuner, but they have gotten old. And that guitar has seen a LOT of use. I'm going back and forth between another set of Schaller's to keep it original, or go with a set of PW's. Not sure yet. Get THESE!

Great replacement tuners for my Taylor!
I recently installed the D'Addario Accessories Auto-Trim Tuning Machines on my Taylor acoustic guitar, and I couldn't be more satisfied with the upgrade. The installation process was surprisingly straightforward, and the tuning machines fit perfectly only needing to drill small holes for the anchor screws. What really impressed me was the auto-trim feature - it cuts off the excess string neatly, saving time and eliminating the need for wire cutters (see video). This not only keeps my guitar looking clean but also makes restringing a breeze. In terms of performance, these locking tuners are incredibly smooth and precise. They hold tuning exceptionally well, even after extended playing sessions. The build quality is solid, and they add a subtle, classy look to my guitar. Overall, I highly recommend the D'Addario Auto-Trim Tuning Machines for anyone looking to upgrade their guitar's tuning stability and convenience.

Original screws did not hold unwound strings, but D'Addario quickly sent out replacements, now very satisfied!!
I have two sets of these tuning machines on other guitars...a Gibson Les Paul Studio and a G&L USA Legacy, and I really like them. I find the atuo-trim feature really cool!! Plus they are just well made, solid tuning machines. I recently bought a PRS SE Custom 22 and had been told that the tuning machines on these guitars were not that great. So I went with Planet Waves because of the performance of those I already have. Unfortunately, I found that all of the unwound strings slipped through, no matter how tightly I screwed down the locking screws. I had read on other reviews that a batch of these had gone out that were slightly out of spec. So I contacted the retailer...Springdale Music, by e-mail. I waited a week and never got a response. So I contacted D'Addario directly by phone and the guy there confirmed that some sets had gone out with screws that were just a bit short and asked for my address to send me out replacements for all three. He even gave me his name and told me to call back if this didn't solve the problem and they'd send me out a new set. The call took less than 5 minutes, and 2 days later I had the replacement parts! The tuning machines work perfectly now!! I was very impressed with Planet Waves response...not so much with Springdale Music...they should have at least responded, even if just to tell me to contact D'Addario directly. So, if you get a set of these (or already have one) and find the strings are slipping through, call D'Addario at the number on the packaging ASAP...they will make it right!!

Excellent product. I wanted to change out the factory tuners (which were good enough already) to gold so I chose these. They installed easily, they look wonderful, the locks perform exactly as they should and they help hold the guitar in tune wonderfully. The high E string and the B string do not always self trim but it is an easy thing to pull out the wire cutters and is not a significant enough matter to me to influence my five star rating.

After years of playing guitar, I thought it was time I bought a 'real' one: a Gibson Les Paul Studio. It looked great but just went out of tune all the time. It was the G-Force tuners: tune it, play a chord, tune it again, repeat. This constant frustration made this guitar nothing more than an expensive folly and far, far worse than the other sub £400 guitars I own. After a bit of investigation, I realised that this was not an unusual problem with G-Force tuners and a recommended fix was locking tuners. I was, to be honest, a bit dubious but I gave it a go and bought these Planet Waves Auto-Trim. They are superb. The guitar stays in tune and, as a bonus, the tuners trim the strings at the point of fitting them so there are no unsightly string ends to tidy up. They were a direct fit/replacement into the head stock, though I would advise drilling small holes for the screws: I just made a small hole and let the screw do the work but two of them broke. No matter: the nut holds them perfectly in place. Highly recommended.
