Does anyone put this on the night before or right before cooking?

Some of our customers do exactly that (apply the night before) and others have said that it dulls the spices.

How long will the 3 lb last?

I’ve done 4 briskets 17-20 pounds and probably 10 pounds of steaks with my regular size bottle and there’s about a 1/4 left. So 3 pounds should last a while.

I dry brine my steaks for 1-2 days before cooking and don’t need to add additional salt. Is it possible to order a salt free Carnivore Black?

That's a great question but I don't know. I can tell you from experience that it's not by any means over salty. You can always add a little, try it and see, if it's too salty try adding some at the beginning of your brine and holf off on other salted seasonings

Salt, pepper, garlic, onion, et al, make sense, because they add flavors. Why dust my steak with charcoal? Remove flavors? "Look" tastier?

My opinion on black is that it seals in the flavors of the steak and gives it a more intense flavor!
