Great for gaming
Purchased this for a new build PC. I splashed out on this as I wanted a processor that would ensure a long lifetime to my PC. My friend built the PC for me and I'm really pleased, this thing blows away my old system and I've started to use it more than my Xbox. So far I've thrown things like Sins of a Solar Empire, Tropico 4 and Evochron Mercenary and haven't noticed a single slow down. In particular, Sins on my old system would shudder to a crawl when there was a lot of action going on, now it's like watching an amazing sci fi space battle. My friend found it easy to fit, I wouldn't recommend using the included fan, I used the amazing Be Quiet! Shadow Rock 4HP CPU Cooler , which I can't recommend enough. Overall a fantastic processor that gives you a lot of power for your money.

VERY VERY FAST CPU
I got an AMD FX-8350 (4.0GHz) at Christmas which was great at many things but at highly single threaded operations like Excel calculations it was slower than my old Intel QX6700 (2.7Ghz). I sold it on eBay and got this 2700K and it is TWICE as fast at running Excel. Plus it overclocks SO easily. I cruise it at 4.8GHz but I've had it to 5.5GHz. Then it's almost THREE times as fast in Excel as the FX-8350. And it runs cool. Very highly recommended.

Great cpu, Bad fan mount
Great cpu, However unless your going to overclock it you might want to get the 2600 instead, the improvement is not that great for the extra money. I did have a problem with the default heat sink/fan mount, It felt too flimsy, one of the plastic pins bent, It was a nightmare trying to get it straight again, However when I did eventually get it onto the motherboard it wasn't very good,it just didn't cool the cpu very well, so I replaced it with a cheap cool master, works like a dream now.

Awesome Piece of kit!
This has got to be the best processor I have ever brought, I am an avid Intel/Amd over clocker and it has got to the point where I don't even need to over clock this the turbo mode and throttling are much better than AMD products and I have use amd products for the last few years as I have not had the money to be able to purchase Intel products I have this beast under a Corsair H100 and it runs extremely cool providing insane headroom for over clocking I can now reach 5GHz in the future and dissipate all of the heat effectively! You have to use this processor to be able to understand how much potential it has at Stock clock speeds i mean the architecture is perfect for gamers and renderers kudos to Intel For providing an outstanding price of kit!

Hot to Trot
I paid a fraction over ยฃ200 for this boxed retail processor, money well spent! My last system was based around an old E4200 dual core over-clocked to 2.4Ghz, test renders, audio processing and benchmarks were done before installing the new CPU, memory and motherboard. This new CPU runs quite hot with the stock cooling so I under-clocked it down to 3.2Ghz to repeat the same tests, my new system is now 6 to 10 times faster. Yesterday I fitted an Asus Axe square cooler, and reset the clock to 3.5Ghz; here are the temperatures in Celsius; Idle(after 30 min's) 100% (1hr at full load) Stock 3.2Ghz 36 91 Asus Axe 3.5Ghz 29 60 So my advise, 3rd generation CPU's will run cooler but either cost more or not perform as well depending on the model, but if you can get an i7 2700K at a decent price - buy it. Whatever you buy, get the biggest/best CPU cooler you can afford.

Great performer
The Intel i7 2700k 3.5GHz Sandybridge model runs like a charm. Copes very well with high loads. Would recommend to anyone looking for a high performance CPU with a very reasonable price tag..

Sandy Bridge is best.
Everyday overclock of 4.9ghz on air and 1.38v Max temps under Intel Burn 73c with a very average air cooler. Why bother buying Ivy Bridge where a 4.2ghz overclock will make you reach these temps.

Unleash the Kraken
This will take anything you throw at it, I've played Battlefield 3, Crysis 2 and Planet side 2 on it. Basically I've never seen it run at 100% unless encoding video which always uses as much as it can. I'd give it 5 Stars if it wasn't for the stock cooler that they give you but intel are renowned for that, so I made sure to buy a Corsair CWCH100 Hydro Series H100 Extreme Performance CPU Cooler from Amazon aswell. To sum up, worth the money (ps. dont buy AMD if you plan on playing games)
