What is tea tree essential oil used for?

Four things, mostly: a diluted evening dab on oily, blemish-prone areas, a scalp massage blend before shampoo, an Epsom salt foot soak, and diffusing for a crisp botanical aroma. It is a cosmetic and aromatherapy oil, not a medicine.

Is this tea tree oil 100 percent pure and undiluted?

Yes. It is steam-distilled Melaleuca alternifolia with nothing added: no carrier oil, no mineral oil, no alcohol, no synthetic fragrance, no colour. Because it is undiluted, you must dilute it yourself before it goes anywhere near the skin.

How much tea tree oil should I mix with a carrier oil for my face?

Keep it between 1 and 5 percent. For the face, start low: 2 to 3 drops in 10 ml of jojoba is roughly 1 percent. For a scalp blend or foot soak you can go a little higher. More is not better with tea tree.

Can I put tea tree oil straight onto a spot without diluting it?

We do not recommend it. Neat tea tree oil stings, can dry the surrounding skin, and is a common cause of contact reactions. Dilute in a carrier oil, patch test on your inner arm for 24 hours, and avoid the eye area and broken skin.

What makes Australian tea tree oil different from other tea tree oils?

Origin. Melaleuca alternifolia is native to Australia; that is where the species grows in its own climate, and where the international quality benchmark for the oil was set. Ours is Australian-sourced and steam-distilled from fresh leaf.
