I bought this Blue Oyster Mushroom Grow Kit as a gift for my brother, who had never grown mushrooms before. He told me the instructions were easy to follow, the kit was simple to set up, and he was excited when his first batch of Blue Oyster mushrooms came in. He said the fresh mushrooms had a mild, pleasant flavor and a nice texture that was much better than he expected. They were delicious cooked with a little butter and garlic. Based on his experience, this made a great gift for a beginner and was a fun project with a delicious reward. I'd definitely recommend it for anyone interested in trying home-grown gourmet mushrooms.

We purchased a kit from each of two different vendors. The attached photos show growth from the other brand after nine days. Then finally harvested after 11 days. UPDATE: As mentioned, of the two different brands this brand, North Spore, never produced anything. After several weeks we just ended up with a moldy, soggy brick. This got even worse when they offered to send a replacement. It NEVER ARRIVED!!! So they offered to refund us for the replacement, which cost ZERO DOLLARS because it’s a replacement. This was ultimately a very costly exercise!

Just harvested this morning, can’t wait to eat for dinner. Three weeks to this first flush. These were really fun. I did water more than 2x\day…more like 4x.

No issues with shipping, bex exactly as described. Already finished my first flush and waiting for my second.

First product arrived barely colonized and smelled sour, and had clearly been opened previously, so I returned it and got a replacement. The replacement was similarly barely colonized, but didn't smell sour, so I put it to test. It's taken 3-4 weeks for the bag to fully colonize and reach a point where it's starting pins. So .. it'll be around 6 weeks from when it arrived to harvest time. Still not there yet. Other companies I've dealt with have generally sent kits that are nearly fully colonized. I'm new to all this, but it's unlikely I'll order from North Spore again if this is how their products normally are.

Ordered this as a gift for someone who wanted to try growing their own food. The mushrooms grew quickly and worked well. The only thing I wished they added was more education material on why you do what you do as we learned for some you have to break it down or they just run with their own ideas of how it works.
