American action comedy starring David Oyelowo, Charlize Theron and Joel Edgerton. The film follows businessman Harold Soyinka (Oyelowo) as he travels to Mexico to oversee the manufacturing of his company's revolutionary new medical marijuana pill. However, whilst there, Harold is kidnapped by members of a fearsome cartel who want revenge on Harold's bosses, Elaine Markinson and Richard Rusk (Theron and Edgerton), for cutting them off from their new drug. From the safety of their office, Elaine and Richard despatch the resourceful Mitch (Sharlto Copley) to find Howard and bring him home safely as his dire situation continues to spiral out of control. The cast also includes Amanda Seyfried, Thandie Newton, Yul Vazquez and Paris Jackson. Synopsis:An exhilarating mix of dark comedy, white-knuckle action and dramatic intrigue, GRINGO joyrides into Mexico, where mild-mannered businessman Harold Soyinka (David Oyelowo – Selma, A United Kingdom) finds himself at the mercy of his cutthroat bosses Richard (Joel Edgerton – Red Sparrow, Black Mass) and Elaine (Charlize Theron – Atomic Blond, Mad Max: Fury Road), local drug lords and a morally conflicted black-ops mercenary. How have I not heard of this film until now?
I don't call many things brilliant but this is. It's like if Tarantino's True Romance were written by Jane Austen or if Barbara Streisland's What's Up Doc were about drug dealers. This film just perfectly balances everything. And the cast are faultless. David Oyelowo has to taken the most praise as the central character who is unfailingly likeable, frequently hilarious and always believable. But everyone - Charlize Theron, Joel Edgerton, Thandie Newton, Amanda Seyfried, Sharlto Copley, all of them - are great. This film has a perfect script. Nothing in it could be changed without lessening the whole. And it's brilliantly directed - so well that you can't see the effort that must have gone into this.Totally blown away by this film.

fantastic fun and oh so satisfying!
Wasn't expecting much but instantly got sucked in. It was very funny, and I found myself rooting for Harold from the outset. Really sharp writing, a great script. The acting was great, the direction too,the pacing, and the story overall was a cracker, and there were lots of laugh out loud moments. So glad I watched this, really cheered me up and made me think maybe there's hope for nice people after all.

Middle of the road...
Gringo is an easy watch. It has a good story that follows an unpredictable path. It's not a four star in my rating as it could have been filmed / shot slightly better in some parts, but i'm a bit fussy about camera angles!

Definitely worth watching
As one person said, it is not an original story, but what makes it worth watching is the way it's told. It is amusing and had plenty of laughable moments, in addition to generating a varied mix of feelings towards the main characters, which is the whole point of a good movie. Thumbs up, especially the end which made me smile and gave me that feel good factor.

There is lots going on here!
I was pleasantly surprised by this flick, it has lots going on and a few things made me laugh out loud, its a little dark too which appears to my sense of humour but also has a great story that's well told!

WICKED MOVIE!!! SO SO GOOD :D
This movie was awesome, funny, shocking and hilarious!! The comic timing was perfect but still had so much intensity. Really unpredictable movie just how I like it. Literally did not know what was coming next and was perfect for the shock factor. The acting from the whole cast was top notch. I mean it was just fantastic. 10 stars if I could! :D

Don't trust the trailer
What a shambles. A shambles with a great cast, but a shambles nonetheless.Firstly, if you see the trailer and think you're in for a jolly, laugh a minute farce, don't be fooled. I have NEVER seen a more misleading trailer.Secondly, most of the characters are irredeemably awful. So flatly are they drawn I didn't even hate the worst ones enough to want to see if they got their comeuppance.Gosh, that trailer was misleading... Even to reordering events to make it seem like we we in for a different film.Such a waste of acting talent. Only the put upon lead character has any charm or interest. If this were handled by the Coen Brothers, masters of black comedy and violent action, this might have been a very different proposition. Instead, it's a work of hacks, and the fact that Amazon invested my prime membership and much other custom over the years to produce such excreta is shocking.
