ELEPHANT & PIGGIE: THE COMPLETE COLLECTION: A perfect gift set for early readers (An Elephant and Piggie Book)

As someone that immigrated to the US as an adult, I've absolutely no idea what the books for kids are, so most of what I've bought has been searching the internet, buying the books and hoping for the better. While I haven't really been unlucky enough to get a bad book, Elephant & Piggie (and Mo Willems in general) are just something else entirely. The stories are fun, diverse ("We are in a book" still gets me every single time), easy to read with my kid (he can read most of the stories now at 5) and touching. The two characters are full of personality, the supporting cast greatly complements the stories and show up frequently enough the kids even want to know more about them (who doesn't love the squirrels?). Kids get to learn about friendship, how to deal with everyday problems they're facing and also just have fun, as not every book does to touch something deep, sometimes all we want is to have fun. Our first book was "I am invited to a party" and it was such a success that the next purchase was this collection and it was the best decision we could have made. We still read one of these books almost every single night and it's been more than a year since we bought them, the kid has the plushies and is even starting to recite some of the stories. The bookends are pretty but we don't have that much space so we're not using them anymore, as they take space that needs to be filled by other books (like the pigeon books!). So, buy this as a cheaper way to get these many books. All books are hardcover and have the same quality of the isolated hardcovers you find at stores, so its likely the same books but bundled together. My kid isn't the most careful out there and the books are still mostly in pretty good shape, I'm sure they'll survive until my youngest can start reading them in a year or so. If you're looking for a great book collection for a 4 to 6 years old, you can't go wrong with this one.

Children love these stories and find the characters delightful and engaging. These books are especially fun to read outload with another person having each person pretend to be one of the characters.

Absolutely love this set. I bought it for my first child all four of our kids could not get enough Piggy and Gerald. Such cute stories kids love.

My daughter loves the adventures of Piggie and Gerald and we enjoy them too! She is 3 years old and can read every book on her own. Great series! We can’t wait to add to our collection and get the complete pigeon series as well.

These books make my kindergartener laugh so hard she can't breathe, I'm so happy I got the full collection! Early reader books can be so boring sometimes but Mo Willems managed to make these easy to read AND hilarious. We like to read them as a script, where I read Piggie's lines and my daughter reads for Gerald. It makes it even more fun, my daughter LOVES to read!

These stories are great! I love them as much as my 6yr old grandson. The bookends are study and look great on the shelf displaying the books. Great for birthday and holiday gifts.

I wish all kids books were like this. Beautifully written, with lovely ideas and messages for kids and adults - not at all preachy, kind without being syrupy, practical and pitched just perfectly - the emotions of the characters feel real, unforced and genuine, as well as being funny, engaging and enjoyable to read. They are beginner level readers, we read them to our boys, who then started reading them on their own once they'd learnt to read. A big hit in our house for our kids from age 3-6, and still dipped into every now and then by all of us too.
