Would such plants survive in the tropics?

This type of perennial ornamental grass will survive and thrive in USDA/USA hardiness zones 7-10. This grass needs well drained soil. The concern with a tropical climate would be too much water. If you can plant it in an area that drains well, it should grow.

How wide do the grow? I want to put them on my hill to hide an old railroad track trail.

Never got to find out. I live in USA and customs seized the package at the boarder and destroyed. Said this plant is not allowed in county.
