Therm-a-Rest Trail Pro Lightweight Self Inflating Backpacking Sleeping Pad, Regular

Excellent value and wonderfully comfortable!

This is difference enjoying a back pack or not this is a great mattress

There are three generations of the Trail Pro pad by Thermarest and this is the 3rd Gen in blue. They used to make a 3rd Gen in light green and it's a great pad unless it delaminates like one did on a backpacking trip. See pic. Thermarest of course has a great warranty and they sent me a new pad w/o question but a great warranty means little in the field. I recently purchased this pad in Blue and will try it out in the yard before a trip just in case it doesn't hold air. This is a very comfy pad at R4.4 and good enough for winter to around 10F.

New pad, Two nights in on a 6 day trip, one end of the pad started separating the pad envelope from the foam bars. At this point the pad is unusable, the first 8 bars at the foot end are peeled away, leaving a giant balloon at one end. When the pad was coherent, it was wonderful. Unfortunately , this one seems to have had a significant manufacturing defect.

Check the fabric before buying! I bought this last year and a small amount of rubbing produced a series of small holes that I was unable to fix with either the field method or the standard method. I do like Therma-a-Rest products so I ended up replacing it with their Basecamp pad, which has a much stronger and more durable fabric (but is only 2" thick). I'd spent more than I wanted to for this pad thinking it would last. Not so.
