Great Product, I don't utilize the swirl function much
I've been using the Ninja CREAMi Scoop & Swirl Ice Cream Maker almost every day, and it's been one of the best kitchen purchases I've made. I primarily use it to make protein ice cream, and the results are much better than I expected. The texture comes out smooth and creamy, making it easy to stick to nutrition goals without feeling like you're sacrificing dessert.Once your mixture is frozen, it only takes about 5 minutes to spin and turn it into ice cream, which is very convenient. If you plan to use this machine frequently, I highly recommend buying extra pint containers so you can keep multiple flavors ready to go.I chose the Scoop & Swirl model instead of the regular CREAMi because I knew I'd be using it daily, and that has definitely been the case. That said, I don't utilize the swirl function nearly as much as I thought I would. It's a nice feature to have, but for me, the regular ice cream functionality is what gets used the most.Overall, this machine makes excellent homemade ice cream, works great for high-protein recipes, and has become a daily staple in my kitchen. Highly recommended for anyone looking to make healthier frozen treats at home.

A hit with the family, complex appliance, but worth it once you figure it out
I picked up the Ninja CREAMi Scoop and Swirl Ice Cream Maker NC701 on a bit of a whim for our family. We deal with multiple food allergies, so buying store ice cream that works for everyone is nearly impossible. The ability to fully control ingredients like dairy-free milk, low sugar options, or nut-free recipes is what pushed me to try it. This is the more deluxe version with both scoop and soft serve capability, and it definitely feels like a premium kitchen appliance. From a build quality and appearance standpoint, it is substantial. This is not a small countertop gadget. It is tall, fairly heavy, and takes up serious space. It will not fit under most standard upper cabinets, so plan accordingly. We ended up buying a separate bakerโs rack to house this and our Ninja Slushi machine. The included 2-in-1 pints, lids, paddle, and swirl press feel sturdy and are dishwasher safe, which helps with usability and cleanup.Using the machine is not trivial at first. There is a learning curve. The process starts by preparing your recipe directly in the clear pint containers. The most important detail is making sure the containers freeze completely level. Timing needs to be correct for adequate freezing. If the mixture freezes at an angle, the chopping and blending mechanism will struggle to operate or process correctly. After freezing for about 24 hours, you install the blade lid, lock the container into the machine, and select one of the 13 programs. There are dedicated soft serve modes, fruit whip, frozen yogurt, custard, and more.We typically use coconut or oat milk, which freezes harder than traditional dairy. Because of that, we often have to run the blend cycle multiple times to achieve a smooth, soft-serve consistency. That is one of the nuances you only learn by doing. Once the texture is right, you move the container to the soft serve side, install the swirl press, and dispense into a cone or bowl. It is a multi-step workflow, and good results depend on understanding how each phase works. If something is off, it usually comes down to leveling in the freezer, recipe ratios, or needing an extra spin.Performance is impressive once dialed in. The Creamify technology really does transform a solid frozen block into a creamy texture. The ability to customize mix-ins and tailor recipes for dietary needs adds real value. However, it is loud. Very loud. During the chopping and spinning phase, the noise level is intense. It is not something you want running constantly, and it could easily be disruptive and hurt ears in a small kitchen.Another small limitation is the dispensing phase. When using the soft serve function, it does not fully clear the entire pint. There is usually a noticeable amount left in the bottom. It is easy enough to scoop out with a spoon, but it feels like an area that could be improved in future designs. In terms of value, this is clearly a luxury appliance. It is not essential, and it is not small. But if you have dietary restrictions, want full control over ingredients, or enjoy experimenting with frozen desserts, it offers strong performance and flexibility. It does not replace a commercial soft serve machine, but for home use, it delivers impressive results.Overall, I recommend the Ninja CREAMi Scoop and Swirl if you are willing to learn the process and have the space for it. Itโs pretty expensive, but I believe it adds substantial value for families with allergies or if you just love ice cream. It takes patience at first, and there are nuances to master, but once you understand how it works, it produces high-quality frozen treats tailored exactly to your needs.

Delicious
I was dubious about this machine. Itโs big and noisy. And I used to work at Carvel Ice Cream so my standards for soft serve are high-ish.Iโve been eating soft serve every day since it arrived. It fit under the cabinet. The Step-It-Up version of the vanilla ice cream recipe is delicious! I am NOT regretting this purchase (made chocolate malted soft serve for myself. Superb.)

Worth every penny
Iโve been using the Ninja Creami for a while now, and overall Iโm very impressed. Unlike traditional ice cream makers, the Creami allows you to freeze your ingredients first and then transforms them into ice cream, gelato, sorbet, milkshakes, and more in just a few minutes. The texture is incredibly smooth and creamy, especially when making protein ice cream, fruit sorbets, and healthier homemade recipes.

Great Concept, But a Few Annoyances
I was really excited to try the Ninja Creami Swirl, and I have to say, it does what it promises: it makes genuinely good ice cream. It's been a fantastic way to turn my protein shakes into a much more enjoyable treat. The Good:The core function is great. The ice cream texture is impressive, although I found that adding a splash of milk to the top of the frozen pint before spinning helps the machine get started and results in a smoother consistency. I also appreciate the design touch of the pint clicking securely into place; it's a small but satisfying detail that lets you know it's ready. The Not-So-Good:Unfortunately, my experience came with a few frustrations. First, this machine is LOUD. It's definitely something to be aware of if you have a small living space or sensitive ears. I also frequently had to run the cycle twice to get the right texture, which adds to the noise and time. There were also some operational quirks. On several occasions, the machine just wouldn't start, forcing me to take the pint out and reseat it. I also noticed the blades would get a strange oily residue on them, and I couldn't figure out why.Sizing and Final Thoughts:My biggest disappointment was with the 'Swirl' version itself. The portion size for the ice cream feels too small to justify the feature. If I were to buy one again, I would skip the Swirl and go for either the standard model or upgrade to the Deluxe for the larger pint capacity.Ultimately, I ended up returning the unit because it arrived with a broken pint. Combined with the other small issues, I decided not to get a replacement just yet. It's a really good product in concept, but the execution has some flaws that made it not the right fit for me.

What a MACHINE!
This is by far the best ice cream machine on the market for home use! Of course this is the opinion of me and my Bride! We purchased this for our 27th anniversary because we wanted to have an ice cream bar. As you can see in the attached photo, we got what we wanted. Now I read reviews on this thing and have to say, a lot of people got it wrong. The instructions are so clear and easy to follow that even a Caveman could do it! As far as the noise complaints, they are wrong on that also. Itโs no more noisy than your dishwasher. We purchased eight additional pints so we have ten total and they are all in the freezer with our favorite recipes. Yum,yum. There are plenty of outstanding recipes online and for KINDLE. We are extremely happy with this purchase and NINJA makes quality built products.

Excellent and Fun Machine
Awesome machine! We love it!!!! One container fills about 6 regular sized cake cones. My recipe for chocolate soft serve (What we use):2/3 cups (nonGMO) pure cane sugar1/4 tsp Xanthan Gum1-1/2 TBSP Nestle Cocoa Powder1/8 tsp salt or less (a pinch)Mix together dry ingredients in glass bowl.Add 1/4 cup Heavy Creamand 3/4 cup Half n HalfUse whisk to mix carefully and completely.Put glass bowl in microwave for 30 seconds, then take out of microwave and whisk this base mixture again until sugar granules are blendedAdd 1 more cup of Half n Half and stir with whisk until completely blended.Be sure you have closed your Ninja churning container and installed your selected nozzle shape on it, then pour the ice cream batter into your container to the Fill Line. If you need more Half n Half, add it and whisk lightly to finish.Cover with container top and Freeze 24 hours on a level shelf. Take out next day and follow machine directions for soft serve. We have used the frozen, unchurned ice cream up to a week after preparation and freezing. Enjoy! We love the easy clean up. Get a small brush cleaner and put a little soap on it. Clean the nozzle area and the inside of the container. Take the softserve pressure lid apart and use the gentle bristles with soap and water to clean all parts. On the main churning lid, remove blade over sink, clean with soap and water. If you let water run into the top opening on the blade, the water will squirt out the side, cleaning it more thoroughly. Clean the outside blade lid / churning lid and shake excess water off over sink. Put in dish drainer to dry. We do not put any of our Ninja Ice Cream parts into the Dishwasher. The containers can warp in the microwave, so we suggest you use that technique to soften ice cream to eat. Hope this helps.

Plans to start your own ice cream parlor?
Overall, I'm happy with the purchase. I paid $280 ( which Amazon said was a Prime Day deal, turns out that wasn't accurate, but that's a whole nother kettle of fish). Anyway, we've used it several times and have a few good recipes dialed in. The machine works well and creates a consistent product. It's pretty big and definitely not quiet, but it only runs for 4 or 5 minutes, so not too too bad. According to to the package, you can run most of the parts through the dishwasher, but hand cleanup isn't bad either. My only other real complaint is that you have to re-spin the ice cream anytime you want it. You can't run a pint and leave it in the freezer and just kind of graze. It will eventually refreeze into a block again. Bottom line, if you go out for ice cream frequently, it's worth the price (maybe not full price, but if you catch it on sale...)

Expensive
Don't get me wrong, its a great little device although I haven't used it fully yet but the reason I gave just 3 stars is due to the price..a bit on the expensive side for what it is

Kind of intricate to operate for this old lady.
I have only used this item once but intend to get back to it once my health improves. I found it rather difficult to configure but it did make the world's best ice cream. If I was able to I would trade this item for the "Slushie".

Amazing options, a bit expensive in JP
The First thing you should know is how amazing it is to make whatever flavor you want, whenever you want, in the style you want.I am diabetic and the low sugar options available to me are very limited. With this machine I can make all kinds of low impact treats whenever I want, AND, if you get the right mixture, it can be stored, frozen, and is still scoopable later. Worst case you need to leave it on the counter for 10-15 minutes, and then it's scoopable. You can make super simple sorbets, my favorite so far is a can of pears, some cinnamon, blend it, pour it into the pint container, top up with water, mix, and then freeze. It takes 5 minutes to prep, 24 hrs to freeze completely.Or, you can make things you would never have the opportunity to try. I made a Persian Bastani for fun. It features saffron and rose water. Its a super floral flavor, not too sweet. But it was new and exciting. My neighbor brings her kids over every Thursday for a play date and the finale is choosing which ice cream flavor they want.Of note, I use an AI to help fine tune my recipes. There is a slightly complicated balance of sugars, fats, solids etc to get the perfect consistency and future scoopability. The first chocolate I made was terrible, so the second one I made off the cuff.I added some pudding mix, melted chocolate chips, xanthan gum, cream and a bit of milk. The final product was absolutely amazing. But, it was too thick and I could hear the motor struggling. So for the longevity of the ice cream machine, be sure to either follow a recipe, ask AI and specify which ice cream maker you have, or pay close attention to you ingredients balance. All in all, the price I paid for this machine in Japan was barely worth it, and that's because the ice cream it makes is so amazing. It was incredibly marked up to get an American machine here in Japan. If I had trusted the shipping to get it to me unbroken from America I could have save a couple hundred USD.But, it's a good machine, and it arrived quickly and unbroken. So it was worth it.One of the lower models might be a better value if you aren't expecting to make some of the other options, like dispensable soft serve, but itnis fun.
