ALTRA Men's Provision 8 Road Running Shoe

First off I am a walker, not a runner. Started buying.Altra shoes, 10 years ago. And besides my crocs, they are the only brand I buy now. About nine months ago, I wasn’t needing a new pair of shoes and the Torren that I just bought before that trashed quickly. I was a bit upset. With the funky economy, I thought I would try to search for the shoes I wanted in the under $100 range and the provision.6 popped up. It was the best change that I have made in a shoe. Now I use lone Peak, I have Escalante‘s, I have TIMP, and four or five other models, but I can’t name off the top of my head. a lot of those I use for walking around shoes, but the provision I use for exercise! Like I said above the provisions changed how my walk feels and how my foot sat in the shoe. The wear on the souls came a lot slower and a lot more uniform. It dictate about a week of steady walking for my feet to adjust to the new way, but Man alive do they feel good! So let’s move on the provision 8. you’re always apprehensive after getting a good pair of shoes that the next model may have too many changes. I skipped.7 because I didn’t need a new shoe yet. But whenever I started looking at new ones, I listen to reviews on the seventh and the eighth. I’m glad I waited. I don’t think the stack height on these shoes is any taller than they were on the six, but it feels more cushion, but still has the same control. It took no time for my feet and shins to adjust and not being in pain after walking in the new ones. These shoes are absolutely awesome. It’s hard for me to not use them as my just walking around shoes right now. As usually my exercise shoes stay for exercise until they are replaced from being worn down. They feel so good. I want to wear them all the time! I know I kind of ramble and there may be some grammatical errors. Please forgive me. I am blind and speech to text , isn’t that great after all these years! Hopefully this review helps somebody and I do need to say that I am a narrow hill, wide tow box, flat footed, man, and Altra is the only shoe I will even try to walk in. Thank y’all

I typically wear wide shoes, i had purchased a pair of glycerin 22 in wide But they were too narrow for me. I took a chance on ordering these, 1/2 Size up from my normal size. I have to say right out of the box they were very comfortable Didn't need any break in period. Was able to do six miles in them. Highly recommend For those that need a wider toe box!

The Provision 8's are clearly not the same versatile shoe as the Provision 7 is. While the 7's were good for both trail and road, the 8 is strictly a road shoe. That versatility is important to me. The tread is not as deep or aggressive, Not as grippy on slick pavement either. My new Prov8 is also about 1/4" longer than my Prov7 is. That said, a very comfortable and supportive shoe for my "tripod" feet. I continue to love all my Altra's. they last me about a year, can't run much this year due to injuries, but as they wear out, they make great yard, and driving shoes.

Another outstanding shoe by ALTRA. I bought these PROVISION 8's to replace my ALTRA Paradigm 8's, which I've worn out after about 4 years. I liked the Paradigm model very much, but I like this PROVISION model even more because the sole is a little bit firmer and therefore more stable than the Paradigm's, which, though comfortably soft, like walking on soft pillows, are too soft to maintain good balance, especially when doing one leg exercises. Lastly, I bought these at a greatly reduced price in early January, when Amazon indicated they were "currently unavailable", but promised that I could purchase them, and they would ship them and then process the purchase cost after they are delivered. I received a notice that estimated delivery would be between last week of February and March 11 at the latest. On March 11, I signed on to Amazon to track if these shoes were 'out for delivery' and got an apology notice indicating that 'due to unforeseen circumstances the shipment/delivery would be delayed about a week at most.' Well, kudos to Amazon, because they must notice or keep track of such service interruptions, because I signed on to Amazon on Friday March 13th, rather disappointed, upset, and ready to call Amazon support to wage a complaint about the shipment failure etc., and just cancel the order, because I was anticipating these new ALTRA's to arrive in time before the soles on my old ones completely wore out, which they had. However, much to my pleasant surprise, when I checked the tracking, it said the shoes would be delivered in early afternoon Saturday the 14th. Wow! They shipped them 2-day Air and I had them on my feet and went walking in them later Saturday afternoon. Thank you, Amazon, for the commitment to excellent customer service and satisfaction!

This is my 2nd pair of Altra shoes. I’m a huge fan because of the support and the wide toe box. I ordered men’s both time to get the maximum width for my wide foot. I walk 4 - 6 miles 6 days a week. Love these shoes!

I bought these for my husband because I liked my Altra's and knew he needed a quality shoe. He didn't realize how much the wide toe box can be such a game changer. He really likes how comfortable they are for hiking, walking around town, and for his workouts. He has said many times how much he appreciates the shoes and how comfortable they are.

Comfortable and have lots of cushion. I run on roads about 15 miles a week and these are fantastic

Love Altra shoes, still a big fan of Lone Peak and have been for many years. However, the Provison has more motion control which I need as well as more cushion which makes it a great walking/running shoe especially as I get older (70s) but still has the neutral heel and wide toe box that I expect with Altra.
