## Description

A calorie-free, gluten-free, soy-free noodle from Japan. Shirataki Konjac has been known and used in Asia for over two thousand years. It is known as Moyu or Juruo in China, and Konnyaku or Shirataki in Japan.

Review: Don't expect pasta! - I am so happy to have found Miracle Noodle here, introducing me to the Shirataki noodle! If you are expecting it to taste or have the texture of pasta, you may be disappointed. However, I love it! I eat a lot Asian food so I was able to accept the initial smell and unique texture. The "fishy" smell rises out. It wasn't strong smelling when i opened it up, but because I read the past reviews I had to give it a good sniff to see what they were complaining about. And yes, it was not a very appetizing smell, but it went away after rising it for about 30 seconds. I ate my first serving of Miracle Noodle with a Japanese noodle soup base (used for tempura sauce, somen, udon, etc.) and it worked perfectly. I was positively giddy. Zero calories! I actually love the texture. It's a little rubbery but not chewy. I don't know what it can be compared to in our common American cuisine, but it is made from a vegetable, so expect a more vegetable-like texture. Like another reviewer stated, it is similar to Asian glass noodles. Now for the big test: Let my husband try it. New foods often ignite dialogue like, "Eww, I hate X." "You've never tried X." "Yeah cuz I don't like it." LOL. He has, however, become more adventurous with new foods and seeing me dance around singing "zero calories" tempted him enough. I gave him a bite and he just kind of responded with "meh". I didn't expect much, so I count that as a success in my book! With the right ingredients and maybe some hot sauce, I'm sure he'd like it just fine. I am excited to try different methods of preparing this noodle. It seems like the perfect filler food in place of rice or pasta. MUCH healthier. It really does just take on the flavor of what it's prepared with. I was able to find individual packages a shirataki noodles (different brands) in my local Asian food market (next to produce) at a lower price, however I have not tried it yet. It looks exactly the same and I can't imagine it'd be much different. So if you're hesitant about buying a 6-pack, maybe you could try that first. I am so glad Miracle Noodle has marketed this product in this way to help get this out to more people. I would have never thought something like this existed. This has become one of my new staples. Bye-bye high calorie noodles!
Review: GREAT new addition to my pantry! - These were wonderful! I saw that other reviewers didn't seem to like these and complained about the taste and smell... so I just wanted to share my surprisingly different review about how much I enjoyed them. I will admit that they didnt smell great right out of the packaging, but if you smell a box of uncooked spaghetti it doesnt smell like roses either. I then tasted them right out the bag. Tasted like... nothing. Not bad or anything, just very bland and water-like. I also didn't have a problem at all with the texture. They're nothing close to pasta, but they reminded me a lot of the Asian glass rice noodles that I've always loved to eat. They're soft, and a little chewy, but if you cook them they are really exactly like glass noodles and don't feel like rubber bands or cartilage like others have said. Also, I'm used to eating a lot of kelp noodles which are crunchy even after cooking and do have a texture like that of cartilage, so these shirataki noodles are much better. Of course, no one should ever eat these without any sauce... they were made to be zero calories so that you can drench them in high-calorie sauces and not feel guilty. Just kidding. But really, they taste fantastic with my thai peanut sauce mix. I mean, I can't get enough of them. They absorb the peanut and coconut flavor amazingly. And the 7-oz serving size is just perfect for one meal! I tried them with teriyaki sauce and pad thai sauce too. Also very good. They really should just rename these as glass noodles instead of "angel hair pasta"... there is absolutely nothing pasta like about them. Anyway, I recommend that you try these. And to cook them and mix them with sauces before consumption. I think Asian sauces work the best with them... but that might just because I love Asian food. They go quick though and they're a bit pricy... but if you are trying to stay on track for your bikini body like me, they're worth the money.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Fishy and satisfying
*by M***B on August 31, 2011*

So I bought these for my wife because she is into fitness and had heard about these noodles from people she works out with. Apparently they are zero calorie fillers and make it easier when cutting to lower your carb intake. When she opened the bag, there was a definite hint of fishiness. I was skeptical that they would be good, but she cooked them up and added a decent sauce and I couldn't really taste anything awry. I can't really say they are good or bad tasting, because they pretty much take on the flavor of whatever you eat them with. They were pretty satisfying and made me feel full for quite a while. I guess they are just fiber. Overall, I find them to be a bit expensive as a means of taking in zero calories. If I want to do that in the future I will just eat less. If I were a weaker person, however, that needs to feel full all the time, these might be a great solution.
