How I Got Rid of Bedbugs Using Food-Grade Diatomaceous Earth (My Experience) โญโญโญโญโญ
I highly recommend watching the video on YouTube by Mark Rober about bedbugs. Treat it like the bible for getting rid of bedbugs. My Story: We had an influx of domestic helpers and workers going in and out of our house, and because of this, our house became infested with bedbugs. After thoroughly studying Mark's video, I first started looking for hotspots where I might find them. While bedbugs could live all over your house, they don't travel long distances. They prefer to stay close to where people rest for extended periods โ typically within about 2.5 metres (8 feet) of where you sleep or sit. Where to Look: Seams and creases of mattresses and box springs Bed frames, especially corners and joints Upholstered furniture where you sit for long periods (I found them on my computer chair!) Cracks in headboards and bed frames Electrical switchboards and switch plates near beds Behind picture frames and wall hangings near sleeping areas Clothes piled on the floor or on chairs Looking behind the television in another room or far from your bed probably won't help โ chances are there won't be any there. Why Diatomaceous Earth (DE)? Since heat treatment requires reaching and maintaining specific temperatures (around 49ยฐC or higher) throughout all infested areas, it's difficult to achieve effectively at home without professional equipment. Concentrated heat on furniture can also damage it and won't reach all the bugs. The best DIY method I learned from Mark's video was diatomaceous earth. I'd never heard of it, but with my family's comfort at stake, I researched it thoroughly. What is DE? It's a very fine powder made from fossilised algae. It works by physically damaging the waxy outer coating of bedbugs, causing them to dehydrate and die. This is a physical process, not a chemical one. Important: Use FOOD-GRADE Diatomaceous Earth only. How to Apply (This is Critical): The key is applying DE as a LIGHT DUSTING, not thick piles. Bedbugs will avoid thick powder but will walk through a light dust without detecting it. Wear Protection: Use an N95 mask, safety glasses, and gloves. While food-grade DE is non-toxic if ingested, inhaling fine dust can irritate your lungs, eyes, and nose. Application Method: Use a small paintbrush, duster, or even a flour sifter. Sprinkle lightly and blow gently to create a fine dust cloud that settles. You want it to look barely visible โ like a light coating of dust, NOT like you've spilled powder. Apply to skirting boards, bed frame joints, under furniture, carpet edges, and cracks/crevices. REMEMBER: Light and barely visible is the goal. Keep it Dry: DE only works when completely dry. Avoid using it in damp areas or where it might get wet. Other Essential Steps (Don't Skip These!): Heat-treat all fabrics: Wash bedding, curtains, and clothes in hot water (at least 49ยฐC) and tumble dry on high heat for 30 minutes or more. Vacuum thoroughly before applying DE, then vacuum regularly (dispose of vacuum bags immediately in sealed plastic bags). Encase mattresses and box springs in bedbug-proof covers โ this traps any bugs inside and protects against new ones. Reduce clutter to eliminate hiding spots. Be consistent for at least 4โ6 weeks (not just 2 weeks) because eggs take time to hatch and newly hatched nymphs need to come into contact with the DE. Timeline & Expectations: It took about 4 weeks for me to be completely rid of them. You need to: Leave DE down for at least 4โ6 weeks. Reapply after vacuuming. Stay vigilant and consistent. Continue checking for signs of activity. Bottom line: You can't be lazy for about 4โ6 weeks, but after that, you can enjoy life as it was before the infestation. When to Call Professionals: If you have a severe infestation, live in an apartment building (where bugs can come from neighbouring flats), or don't see improvement after 6 weeks, consider hiring a licensed pest control professional. Prevention Tips: Inspect second-hand furniture carefully before bringing it home. Use protective covers when travelling. Be cautious when having service workers in your home. Regularly inspect sleeping areas. Final Verdict: I recommend this product 100%. It worked for me when used correctly and consistently. The key is proper application (light dusting), patience, and combining it with heat treatment of fabrics and mattress encasements. Best of luck! You can beat this.

slow but effective. min 10 days to show results
It takes minimum 12 days to work on insects. have to be very careful while using it. powder should be pread as dust and not lumps in one place. will be effective only if done correctly. no immediate results so wait for 15 days atleast

Tried bed bugs spray, dettol ,boric powder and washing powder to get rid of bedbugs. Finally after a research I found this product.I was facing bed bug problem since last 6 month when I moved to New place. Now starting from Second day when I put this powder I don't see any budbugs at bed.Realy amazing product.A quick resolution. But be aware don't put it over bed even ur body will get dried soon and would difficult taking breath.Always put below beds at side where bed bugs hide.I think I did this mistake and by body was feeling dry to for 1 day but later it was fine.Thank you finally found quick resolution. Also it killed one big i sect which I never seen and it was lying on floor.

Waste of time
Waste of time and money. I had ordered it for beg bugs, used it for more than 2 weeks later had too call in for pest control and was told it would had been better if i had called them earlier as bed bugs reproduce very fast and it had increased thr infestation. God. If you have bed bugs just go for pest control don't waste you time on these and is also cheaper than using this multiple times ๐คฌ

Not effective against Bed Bugs
I bought this DDT powder to help against Bed bugs. Didn't seem very effective. Had to ultimately buy new Mattresses. I can't comment on product's performance for other parameters. If and when I do use it for other purposes, will edit this review accordingly.

BED BUG KILLER WHICH WORKS - Non Toxic as well
A maid we employed once brought along a dreaded pest - bed bugs! By the time we discovered them, they were all over our two bedrooms, and threatening to take over the entire house. Even our clothes and my office bags were not spared - had the nasty surprise of seeing them crawl out of my laptop bag and even my shirt pocket, in office! With a small baby at home, toxic chemicals were not an option. Tried various 'jugaad' options - concentrated dettol, phenyl and even vacuum cleaning - but no use. Felt like a lost battle. This product was a true savior. How to use it: * Apply it liberally where the bugs hide OR are likely to walk over when they come out to feast at night. For me..it was below the cupboards and under the bed (in the storage compartment)along the four corners. * Cover your nose and mouth with a mask or cloth - I did not and the fine dust gave me a headache. * Be patient and wait. Meanwhile do keep hunting and killing bed bugs every day. During the peak of my battle, I used to check the mattress and pillows, the bed sheets and the cracks and crevices of the bed every day. The storage section was too cluttered (with plenty of space for the bugs to hide) - unfortunately with a small kid and the lockdown, there was no way I could take them all out and clean it. Rather I liberally applied the power all over the storage area. * Within about 2-3 months, the bed bugs all vanished. A few bugs by then had already spread to another room by then, but again with a lot of patience, diligence and this powder, I was able to eradicate them. * You must keep a lookout for secondary infestations - else while your primary infestation is destroyed, the secondary can multiply. * Everyday keep looking out for and killing bugs.. Requires patience... * Seal your mattress.. During the lockdown I didn't have much options... Used two one sided bed protectors and packing tape to seal the bugs which had got inside the mattress * When removing the powder too, do make sure you wear a mask and ensure small kids, elders or people with asthma/dust allergies are not around. The fine powder definitely is an irritant to the lungs/airways. With this powder I achieved what I felt was impossible - eradicating bed bugs in a non toxic way (with tons of patience and effort though - there is no substitute for that)

Absolutely works for mite infestation!
I used this for a pigeon mite infestation in my house. It was an absolute lifesaver. Since it's pet safe I could use it freely without worrying about my cat ingesting it. The mites were gone in less than 48 hours. All you have to do is lightly dust the powder on the window frames or wherever the mites are found (typically near pigeon nests). Highly recommend for similar issues.
