DIY TL Style Electric Guitar Kits with Mahogany Body and Maple Neck - Maple Fingerboard and All Components Included (TL)

Not bad quality for a kit. Bought it as I was bored out my skull and at a loose end, assembles well, pretty simple. Took it to pieces again and sprayed it dark blue, looks professional.

Firstly, I want to say that the build quality and the build experience was exceptional. Had the neck pick up worked this review would have had 5 stars, without question. However, the neck pick up does not work. What I wanted was a replacement pick up, after all the guitar was built, stained, oiled, and beautiful. What I was told was that the only option was to return that built guitar in return for another kit. That is rediculous, the pick up would cost pennies to replace, and I would not have to build another guitar. As it is I have had to buy a new pick up. Rediculous, the thing is of course that the new pick up will upgrade the guitar. I would have replaced the pick ups in a couple of years anyway, just not happy with the seller's response.

Arrived SUPER fast, and was very much as it was advertised. I really can't believe that they can put a quality guitar kit together for a little more than it would cost me to just buy the wood. Yes, the body is made up of three pieces of miss matched mahogany so a natural finish is out of the question. This guitar body is paint grade ready when it arrives. The neck is great, the frets are in very well. There are no gaps between the bottom of the fret and the neck, and they are well dressed. I did have to file a couple of frets down, so just a minor fret level job. Everything works great, but I will be changing out the pickups for a much higher quality pair. There is nothing wrong with the stock ones but they are a little shrill for my taste. All in all this is a GREAT kit at AMAZING price.

I’m beyond pleased with how the Telecaster kit came out. Some things to note… 1. The body as others have stated comes ready to paint, the neck however is much less finished (which was a huge perk for me) as you are able to sand the neck to your Preferred shape / thickness before applying the finish. 2. The headstock is uncut And the template provided didn’t quite Line up properly with the tuning peg holes, so I ended up making my own template no biggie. 3.The neck was straight, frets were good , no sharp edges etc. 4. The nut needed some minor filing but other than that seems fine for plastic, may replace with bone or brass eventually. 5. The electronics are all plug and play, went together easily and for what they are they’ll do. ( the bridge pickup is pretty harsh but rolling back tone a bit helps) the neck pickup is fine. Plan on swapping the pickups out eventually. 6. Hardware.. everything seems fine except the tuners , they’re hot garbage , don’t even bother installing them grab a 20-40$ set of tuners and save the frustration to try and keep the stock tuners in tune. 7. Bridge… for a cheap vintage style 3 saddle bridge I was able to get it intonated pretty darn close, may add a compensated bridge later on but the stock one is doing the trick for now. All in all if you’re on the fence about the telecaster style kit, for under 100 bucks I don’t think you can beat what you get. After paint , poly, new locking tuners and custom waterslide decals I’m only into the guitar for around $160-170 and it plays fantastic. Sounds good enough , but as stated before could use upgraded pickups. I may get a few more kits in the future and build them as gifts. If you put the work in you’ll get a nice guitar by the end of it.

To be honest you may as well throw the strings in the garbage cause that's exactly what they are. You can't even break them in cause they break while trying to tune them the first time. That being said I would not use strings just because they are available,I like to choose my sound and string type,only one style will do for me. The guitar is fairly easy to assemble and eventually you can find the setting for your strings on the bridge and set the kneck of the instrument to a satisfying position from which to make melody upon it. It's not the quickest guitar to play on but for the money I would say it's actually pretty decent. All and all ,I like it. It's got a nice sound if your into that Johnny Cash rockabilly sound and I am . This guitar is fun for me.

Nice kit, fun to put together. easy to piece together. My only issue is that I had to buy neck shims and shim the neck to get the action to be playable. After a little tinkering I was able to get it. plays nice. The tuning pegs are kinda cheap so you may wanna buy new ones. they stay in tune, but there is issue with the feel quality. nice quality wood. pretty and feels good. I plan to go over it with a super high grit sand paper and a finish oil.

You will have to work, but it is worth the effort. I ended up owning a really, really good guitar
