Fantastic on all levels.
It's such a simplistic build, so easy to use and the sound is exceptional. Beautiful in all ways.

Stunning sound for high quality speaker
This is my third Revo audio product, with two SuperStreams used in other parts of my home. I bought this to replace a modern radio based device used in the bedroom that had great features but its sound for music was not good enough for me. With radio moving quickly to offer more flexibility, choice and control via apps the need for a dedicated radio has lessened over time. The Supertone therefore offers truly excellent sound, at a level far above the bluetooth speaker market in a high quality device that includes physical controls. The inclusion of treble and bass dials is most welcome, to easily customise the sound as I listen.Using the device could not be simpler, press your button and stream. No remote is needed. I use a Chromecast Audio device with optional optical cable streaming at perfect quality into the speaker. The bluetooth connection is AptX so CD quality and there are two physical audio ins (3.5mm and RCA) too. That's all I'll ever need for this item. There's not a remote, but you really will not need one. If you want to control it remotely like a bedside radio, the SuperCD or their other units are more relevant.I wanted to order it via Amazon or the manufacturer but the black speaker grill version is temporarily unavailble so could not this time. Either the metal or black version look wonderful, like a classic high end speaker in the modernist style. The sound on this is hugely powerful, including at low volumes - it does not becomes muddy and blurred into the bass as the former radio device did. The mids are clear in the sound along with the bass and treble. Of particular note is the sound separation, the speaker produces sound well beyond its physical size (which we will come to in a moment) so the spread is far more than any bluetooth type speaker I have used before. It really is excellent to have sounds coming from thin air, left and right beyond the speaker. I believe it might have more stereo spread than the SuperSystems by Revo I have, but it could just be that I am so much closer to the device when listening. It certainly is the equal of them in its sound. This is an 80W speaker, so very powerful for its use. You will struggle to use its full volume without risk of a bang on the wall from next door. There is a full subwoofer built into the base, so it is helpful to find the right bass sound setting using the dial to fit your choice. Where you place the device will also make a large difference to the sound reproduction and bass depth too. We all have very differing views on the level of bass we like, so the physical dial makes this easy to find. Please do be aware that this is a big device, it is not slim or a tuck-away speaker. To accomodate the technology of this quality, it is a chunky, heavy device that must be checked that it will fit and look right before purchase. It you have the space, it is a wonderful device that will stay with you. The inclusion of an Optical port means you can connect high quality inputs for the best reproduction now and into the future. It's hard to explain how far superior the sound of this is to other speakers, this isn't just a casual listening device it is a item that produces sound nearer to genuine high end hifi but in a simple, easy to use way. It can seem incredibly expensive compared to other units and I was able to buy it at less than the full retail price myself. It is a device to see as an investment that I envisage will be with us long after others have been replaced. There's not loads of gimmicks here, it's all about the sound, connectivity, simplicity and high quality design. On the basis that I am progressively moving over all my listening (for non TV use) to Revo tells its own story. For those looking for the combination of one box high quality sound and design, reflecting that they control all their music from other devices - this is an excellent way to go. Highly recommended and certainly five stars from me.

Excellent 5* audio, once set up.
This is my third Revo product now, as I jumped at the prospect of the Company’s Black Friday deal.I won’t bloat this review with info about the unit and which is already covered by Revo. Instead, I will concentrate on its user-friendly nature, connectivity and, of course, sound quality.I opted for the walnut cased model and which I find visually very attractive. The Super Tone is, in effect, a fully fledged stand-alone amplifier with two analogue audio stereo inputs to cater for external kit using RCA or 3.5mm mini-jack interconnects, and optical fibre input for CD transports or DACs, and Minidisc. Then there is the Bluetooth connection, making four “inputs” in total, all of which have a little LED above their push button selector to denote which input is active. There are also independent rotary controls for bass and treble adjustment and which I’ll come to later. There is a front mounted 3.5mm jack for headphones or, at a pinch, as a recording source for an external recorder. Finally, the whole package houses two stereo forward facing speakers and one ported 6” down firing bass unit.Once powered up, it was as easy to connect to my laptop via Bluetooth. With bluetooth enabled on the laptop and the pairing button pressed in the Super Tone, it only took a matter of seconds for it to appear as a Bluetooth device and connect. Now this is where the fun, or I should say didn’t start, with sound quality issues immediately being apparent. The sound was seriously lacking in bass and was very strident and forward projecting in the mid to high frequencies. Not pleasant at all. Upon experimenting, I realised that I’d made a mistake in assuming that with the bass and treble rotary controls at the 12 o’clock position, this would equate to the standard practice in audio amps of being the “flat” response setting where turning L or R from 12 o’clock would give bass and treble cut or boost. Not so in this case.To give a balanced audio output, with classical music for example, it is necessary to turn the Bass control fully on and to retard the treble control a little to around the 10.30 position. These settings are, for me, the sweet spot for the unit and once established I was able to enjoy a really fine audio experience with all forms of music be it orchestral, choral, vocal, instrumental, big band, rock or pop. I was also very impressed indeed with the audio quality I was experiencing from the audio files on my laptop via Bluetooth. I’ve ripped about 8oo or so of my 1600 CD collection and now I’m regretting that I limited ripping to mp3 at 320kbps (or even less) because as good as the Revo makes these sound, my more recent WAV and FLAC rips do sound better. The audio quality is free from colouration, with voices (speech and vocal) being remarkably pure with no nasal qualities at all. The forward firing speakers have a good attack which helps in the reproduction of the leading edges of notes. Even on the full setting, the bass is not overblown and the bass line is very easy to follow, even in a thick score. The Revo does not produce one-note bass. Out of interest, I did a sinewave sweep to establish the low frequency limit and discovered that there is virtually no discernible output below around 53Hz. About par for the size of the bass driver and cabinet. So a good effort. If I have one very slight criticism, it is that the master volume control on the top of the cabinet is not calibrated and so there is no means, visually, to know what the volume setting is set at when using any of the external inputs. The unit can go surprisingly loud so some caution is warranted. It is best turn it anti-clockwise before firing up any externally connected device. This is a full stereo unit, but the spacing of the speakers does mean that there is no perceptible channel separation, except via the headphone out jack. If you value audio quality above the lack of speaker stereo separation, this Revo is well worth investigating. It provides a lot within a relatively small and tidy package.Addendum. 27/01/2020.Following my review, and after some extensive listening, I still had some unease about the forward projection in the mid to upper range and which was mostly noticeable playing classical music and which still a little too much punchiness to it. My laptop has a Dolby sound processor and although I'd set this to flat, this was a few years ago and I'd not touched it since. The then set up was for the laptop's built in speakers. Experimenting with the equaliser's settings, I found that by pulling the mid-range sliders somewhat I've achieved a far better overall balance.I can't award any more stars for sound quality, let's just say I am using the Revo in a more balanced, and pleasing mode, and indicative of what it is truly capable of. I've still needed to use full bass boost, but by pulling the mid range output from the laptop, I've now set the Revo's treble control to its 12 o'clock position. Also by pulling the mid-range output, I am able to listen at higher volumes without any aural distress.
