Best purchase of the year.
I shopped around and finally made my choice of this fish finder. Installation was straight forward and easy if you have common sense. The unit come ready to install with the mount, transducer, and power cord. It's plug and play and simple to program. I did have a couple of question on the unit with the GPS, and once I reached out to Hummingbird the question were answered. For the best performance I wired a direct line to the fish finder from the battery switch, and once the new software was upgraded, the problem went away. It's a great product from a company that stands behind their product. Tech supprt is very fast, helpful, and very friendly. I have no regrets on this purchase.

Game-Changing Upgrade
I purchased this unit as an upgrade from my Helix 8, and it is light years of improvement. First and foremost, the touch screen and easy navigation of screens and menus is so much faster, and more efficient than my Helix. On my old Helix, I might think about changing views or transducer frequency or something, but the menu navigation and hard button presses required to do it was a little off-putting. And usually, I just didnโt do it. Now it is so simple with the Xplore to zoom to a pane in my screen, or switch to a view with two screen touches. I will use this all of the time. Secondly, the quality of the display is very apparent when compared to the Helix. Sharp, crisp, and clear. Much easier to see what you are looking at. The only thing I might do differently is get a bigger screen. Thereโs so much you can co-mingle on a screen, but that gets difficult on the 9. But Iโm still super satisfied with this unit, and highly recommend it. But if you can afford the 10 vs the 9 - go for that!

Awesome. Not sure why anyone needs a bigger one.
Awesome depth finder/GPS/Trolling motor controller. Works great and the maps are awesome. The Minnkota control is so simple. Do wish it could connect to the trolling motor with Bluetooth but not a big deal.

Great Unit. Huge improvement in interface. Included Costal Maps are incomplete.
I've included a before and after photo of my upgrade to this unit an Xplore 12. My old unit was small and ten years old. I finally broke down and spent the cabbage. So I'll start with hits and misses and then explain my charting experience at end. Hits: Beautiful bright screen even in full Florida sun. Huge improvement in interface. Easy and you can type on screen with a keyboard rather than scrolling characters. Fully customizable screens with favorites. Full NMEA 2000 system. Miss: Full NMEA 2000 system, if it ain't 2000 it's not compatible. Older heading sensors, etc. won't work. The manual is good but leaves out some items. For example, it wouldn't recognize my zero line card from boot. I had to insert it while booted up and then it recognized it Micro SD card. Kinda of a miss. I'm older and those little itty bitty cards are pretty slippery. Older chart chips might not fit. Now on to the included Costal Maps chip. Useless for my area. Basically the whole nearshore area from North Tampa all the way to Tallahassee on the Gulf of America has no data other than shoreline and navigation markers. I called customer service. Prompt response from an English speaking service representative in the US, a rare occurance nowadays. However, come to find out one has to purchase their "Premium" charts at a cost of $599. Holy Bat Shirt! I was really disappointed that they touted an included "costal" chart with no cavets. Thankfully, I have my old Navionics card with great charts. I'll continue to use it. Note, if you use a zero line card and Autocart on your home computer it is NOT dependent on using the Costal chart chip. Humminbird, if you're listening, fix the charting issue and I'll change my score to a five Star.
