The large diameter of Ultimate Direction FKT Ultra Poles makes them stronger and stiffer than all regular sized shaft poles available. UDs latest trekking pole is collapsible for easy storage and transportation. The tapered shaft design results in an industry-leading strength to weight ratio while keeping the pole stiff and rigid at the joints. The easy pin-style lockout allows easy deployment without needing to actually look at the pole. You can keep an eye on the trail! Custom designed tensioner enhances shaft rigidity. Aluminum bushings at each joint for added durability. The shaft is made from 100% carbon fiber and is 20mm in diameter at the top, while competitors poles are only 13.5mm. Increasing the diameter doesn’t just increase the strength proportionally, it SQUARES the strength, and CUBES the increase in stiffness! This important engineering principal has been used to build bicycle frames for 20 years, but incredibly, has almost never been used for trekking poles. Custom-designed, ergonomic EVA foam grip allows multiple hand positions. Soft Nylon webbing wrist loops provide enhanced comfort and utility.
