Huge Disappointment.
A huge disappointment. I got these for around our kitchen as we tend to get fruit flies around plants and fruits. we've have all six out for several weeks and have yet to catch anything. I have tried different heights and brightnesses to no avail. I watched a fly go in and come right back out making it seem like it does not trap either house fly or fruit fly. Don't waste your money on these, try something else.

Completely Ineffective
I bought these traps to put in my kitchen and bathrooms. In our kitchen, we tend to get fruit flies around our coffee machine. In the bathroom, we get them around the sinks, as they come out of the overflow drains and like to hang around my potted plants. These come in a 6-pack, which includes 6 small plastic cases and 6 single-use solution tubs. To setup, you take on plastic case, and one solution tub. Peel the sealed cover off of the solution tub, drop it into the case, and put the lid on the case. From there, you just place it in the area where you notice flying insects. The solution looks unremarkable, visually, but smells slightly of vinegar. After these had dried up, it looked somewhat goopy, but still smelled of vinegar. Putting a bit of water into the solution tub quickly reconstitutes the solution. Given this, I believe the solution is nothing more than vinegar, water, and soap, which is the recipe for a DIY fruit fly trap, but in a MUCH smaller scale. The first night I put these out, I caught a single fruit fly in the bathroom, which made me very hopeful that these were to solution to my problem. Unfortunately, these seem to be absolutely ineffective, as that first fruit fly I caught has been THE ONLY fruit fly I’ve caught, even though you can see them flying around these things. I’m not sure if the solution is too weak, too small amount, or just not an effective solution in the first place. Given that I’ve had these in place for months at this point, and have only caught one single fly, which I believe was a complete fluke, I have to come to the conclusion that these are a complete sham that do absolutely nothing, which the company probably knows, but still decides to cash in on people needing a real solution. Overall, these are a major disappointment, and I would not recommend these to anyone.

Misleading overall description
Misleading size and description. WILL NOT catch house flies with the size of this product. House flies should not even be part ofvthe description. As for gnats, it does more to attract gnats near it but doesnt catch them really at all. Also, the listing says "safe for use around children and pets" and then in smaller print "if used and stored as indtructed." The instructions being basically this: keep as far away from children as pets. So in short, it is absolutely not safe around children or pets. So just use vinegar and dish soap, don't buy this product.

Trap Doesn't Attract Flies, Spills, Improvement required - Trap Parts Potentially Useful for DIY
Trap Doesn't Catch Flies & Spills Unavoidably! Have been using for over a month - haven't caught a single fly (but have other traps that catch smaller flies just fine). This Trap is really no different from small vinegar based fly traps, but is intended to catch larger flies. The flies are supposed to enter the top grid (should be attracted to the weak detergent mixture inside as it smells like weak vinegar which they like), and are supposed to fall into the dilute detergent mixture in the packet sitting inside, which would kill them. But not only did flies seem to be completely not attracted, unfortunately, but the packets are shaped such that you can't attach or remove the grid/lid, without one side of the detergent packet snaps on the legs of the lid, and spills as you open it. So you end up with much less liquid in the trap, which will dry out quickly. I will be trying out my own apple cider vinegar solutions to try to improve the attraction rate, and possibly will add a small amount of detergent, though that may not be required (will require testing), as there seems to be a real gap in the market for a small non-toxic liquid based trap like this, for larger flies (there are plenty of effective vinegar traps for the small flies already). These traps will be worthwhile if I can at lease reuse the casings ... but not sure I can even get that to work yet.

Ok
I used some when I originally bought this set and they were great - gnats were gone. Now that it’s Summer again, they don’t seem to be luring the gnats in.
