LassoTag iBeacon – Black: Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) Tracking Beacon making Valuables Smarter for iOS / iPhone / iPod / iPad.

This is not actually an iBeacon device. It uses a proprietary protocol for tracking. At no point does it ever use iBeacon for tracking purposes. It only sends out a few iBeacons when it's first powered on (making it legally classifiably as an iBeacon device). After that it never sends any more iBeacons. The iBeacons it sends out simply serve to allow them to call it an iBeacon device without getting into legal trouble. The ad for this product makes it appear as though it's an iBeacon tracking device. It is in fact not using iBeacon technology at all for it's tracking. It is using some undocumented proprietary system for tracking. I have iBeacon tracking software that can prove this doesn't use iBeacon technology for tracking purposes.I am very disappointed in this product's misleading ad. The ad makes it look like it uses iBeacon for tracking. It only sends out iBeacons when it's first powered on. After that, it never uses iBeacon. It's a gimmick. Their proprietary software never uses the iBeacon the product sends out only at power up. Their software ignores the iBeacons and uses a different system. The product just sends these iBeacons at power-on so that they can claim it's an "iBeacon" device. It's not truly an iBeacon device. The ad is very deceptive.I purchased this because I needed an iBeacon compatible locator. This doesn't work for that purpose. It is useful if you only want to use their proprietary software for tracking purposes, because tracking via iBeacon is not at all supported by this device!Please change your ad. Remove the mention of iBeacon. It's not actually an iBeacon trackable device.

I took advantage of the LassoTag promotion and bought all 7 colors as Christmas gifts. They were the perfect stocking stuffer. Packaging was minimal and the instructions were virtual. I didn’t mind and my family/friends didn’t have any issues figuring it out. No need to destroy a rainforest.Product is very sturdy and made of good quality. Almost too sturdy. It was a bit difficult opening up the tag to remove the safety tab.The application is intuitive and set up was easy. It took a bit longer to connect than I would have liked, but once connected it works like a champ. I bought the Notification Service for my own personal use since I sometimes don’t hear/see the alert on the phone. The text message and phone call has saved by bacon a couple of times now.The LassoTag has a bunch of good uses. My son is using it to track his kids. My sister travels a lot so she is using it to make sure her luggage gets on the plane. And my neighbor stuck his on his deck to use as an external thermometer.

This is a great idea in theory, but in practice it still needs some work. The hot to cold locator works well as long as you are in range (about 50 feet on my Iphone 4s), but as soon as you are out of range it doesn't show up on the map at all. This is what I needed more than anything, as I tend to loose my keys and wallet, and they are quite often more than 50 feet away when that happens. If you are simply looking for a tool to alert you when you go out of range, this will work. However, the app needed to be open for it to alert me when I went out of range as well.In the end, I returned this product, uninstalled the app, and I don't miss it one bit.

This is not helpful to find keys, It will show a map that shows the key in the general home area. Not able to get the alarm to ring yet, although if I do, probably will remind you left your keys once your lucked out of your home. I placed 3 stars since I think there should be some other uses. Maybe something that you travel with often, suitcase, and remembering where you left it.

We returned this item because it didn't work with 2 of our 3 iOS devices, after many attempts following troubleshooting procedures; it took 24 hr to get it to work with the one device. Customer service was worthless. I e-mailed them and after 5 days still haven't heard back, except about a promotional to upgrade (for a cost). Furthermore, these tbeacons never turn off and, when out of range of your iOS device, depends on "crowd" monitoring, meaning that everyone's bluetooth is picking up your iBeacon signal and sending that information to Lasso! Talk about a security issue! It is cheap plastic and requires a coin to open it to activate and orient the battery. That plastic was torn up after my attempts to open it the first time. It won't hold up to battery replacements every 2-3 months!

I love my Lassotags! This is my second one and it's so easy to use. Minimal packaging means less waste. I connected this one to my camera bag. It's really cool that I can snap a photo of my bag and upload it to the app so I know which tag is on my bag. The other handy thing this little tag does is tell me the temperature! How clever! The best part Lassotag gives me is peace of mind that I won't lose my valuables!!!

I am now satisfied with product support. I could not initially get a call back or response from the website but when I called an available phone number from google searching the company I found I was talking to the president on a Sunday afternoon! And he immediately apologized for the communications gaffe and sent me a new device to replace the glitchy device I had purchased (I had purchased two and only one didn't function). It now works flawlessly and I have purchased more. I recommend this advice to anyone.
