Literally all you need to do is squeeze "a dime sized" amount out, rub it into your skin and then it's up to you if you're wanting to rub it off (I do with a damp towel as it says is an option) or rinse it off. LET ME TELL YOU! My face feels legit clean, cool (temperature) and refreshed and not only does it make me feel like I have energy/wakes me up but it also helps me get up the willpower to get the day started. Or feel comfortable getting ready for bed. It was an absolute accident I even found this listing and this is my new favorite thing ever. It also feels motivating to get in the shower before bed now to catch up my body with my face on rough days. It just gives a lingering clean feeling, there’s zero residue and it feels like my skin is firmer which is really neat. It doesn't have a scent (though I haven't sniffed it up close). I tried it on its own as well as right before putting on two light serums and a moisturizer. It worked great both ways. The serums and moisturizer felt like they actually absorbed better in my skin which is kind of crazy to me. I used the balm the next morning with the serums on from the night before and there wasn't any lingering serum feeling. It felt like everything was a clean slate. No build up or anything. So yeah. I hope they never change the formula or discontinue the product because even with a once a day shower this is so easy to clean my face a second time in the day. The list price is currently $18 dollars which is pretty steep and I'm not a big fan of, but I bought it on sale for $9.99 and that's a GREAT price for it.

This is perfect for my depression.
