Bigger spoons are better
You can baste about a 1/4 stick of butter per scoop with this bad boy. Plates mashed potatoes with ease. Works great if you’re a soup person too. Works like you would imagine a giant spoon would!

Great bowl shape basting, saucing, etc.
The Silver Stainless Steel 2 Tbsp Chef Spoon (9-inch Big Spoon) has a great, familiar shape. Even if you're not a kitchen professional, you've probably seen the famous "Chef Kunz" (aka Gray Kunz or JB Prince) sauce spoon on TV. Chefs baste their cast iron steaks, for example, with a large, durable spoon shaped just like this one. This version of "the spoon" is more reasonably priced than the official one, and it performs very well. The shape of the bowl is excellent for precision saucing, drizzling, you name it, it will roll off the front of the bowl in a precise, controlled flow. The spoon has good weight and balance. The wide handle is well-shaped and easy to hold and control, with one caveat: the edges of the handle (especially at the tip) should be better rounded. The edges are not sharp enough to cut, but they are rough enough to be uncomfortable. Could be some quality control issues in the manufacturing. Still it's a very good, well-balanced spoon that I'm enjoying using.

Nearly perfect sauce spoon, depending on the price.
This spoon is an excellent and affordable alternative to high-end sauce spoons like the JB Prince Kunz Sauce Spoon. However, the product listing’s title is a bit distracting; I mean, comically large? That phrase might mislead buyers into expecting something oversized when, in reality, this is a well-proportioned and highly functional kitchen tool.Serious Eats describes the ideal sauce spoon as having an off-center bowl, a tapered edge for precise pouring, and a balanced weight for comfort. This spoon checks all those boxes. The listed 2-Tbsp capacity is perfect for basting, plating, and portioning sauces, while the slightly deepened back allows for efficient scooping. At 9 inches, it’s big enough to handle most kitchen tasks without being cumbersome. It’s great for stirring, plating, and even light serving, making it a useful go-to tool in my kitchen. The JB Prince Kunz Spoon is often considered the gold standard, but it comes at a much higher price. While the Mercer Culinary plating spoon might be a better option at full price, this one is an excellent pick if you find it at a reasonable cost. While great for sauces and plating, it’s not built for heavy-duty tasks like scooping hard ice cream; why would you use it for that anyway? If you're looking for a high-quality sauce spoon without the premium price tag, this is a fantastic choice. Just ignore the weird product title and focus on the spoon itself, which is a perfectly functional tool for precise plating and drizzling.

Used more than I thought I would!
I ordered this Chef Spoon not sure if it would be useful or not. I have found that I use it more than I thought I would. I have used it to serve rice, beans, and to ladle sauce. It is a great size rather than using my 1/4 cup or soup spoon. If you are looking for one of these to add to your kitchen utensil arsenal, I believe it is a good value for the investment. It looks sharp (I love stainless steel items) and it is built well. Comes out of the dishwasher nice and shiny. It is thick enough but not too heavy.

Huge Spoon
My family and I love this big spoon. Even though it's a basting/serving spoon we use it as a personal spoon. I hate when I go to grab it and it's dirty because someone already used it lol! It's a nice weight and feels good in your hand.

Chef Spoons Are Designed This Way for a Reason
First of all, this spoon is not meant to be "comical" as the advertising claims. Chefs use this as a serving spoon, but most use it as a tasting spoon. It is the size of 2 tbsp. The design allows for a bit of the liquid to be spaced in a bigger area so that it cools down quicker. This allows the chef to sip out of the spoon, tasting the liquid from the outer perimeter, where the liquid has cooled the quickest. Then the chef has the option of tasting from the deeper part of the spoon, where the liquid remains the hottest, should he/she desire. With that being noted, this is a perfect Chef Spoon-- brilliantly polished stainless steel. It is just the right weight, ergonomically correct and well balanced, which is important when tasting something that may be hot.
