Where tech meets aesthetics.
Decided to build my own PC this time around. Went from an all black build, to an all white build, however one thing remained consistent. MSI. As someone who has worked in IT for some time now, Iโm glad to say I trust MSI motherboards and graphics cards. Havenโt failed me yet. This motherboard comes with the signature โdragonโ RGB logo, amazing white and gray color scheme, as well as some solid black accents. The quality felt like a premium product, no cheap plastic feeling parts. The both the M.2 SSD slot and the heat sinks have an easy access function that makes changing or upgrading your SSD an easy. It also comes with a LED debug display that functions as a temperature monitor when in use. The BIOS menu is easy to get around and appealing to the eyes, allowing for controls such as over locking at the click of a button. The lock and release button for your graphics card is amazing which currently holds up my MSI Vanguard 5070TI. Even the unboxing was great as youโre quickly approached with the words โtech meets aestheticsโ & it is true. This is a beautiful motherboard, so far very reliable and packed with tons of features. I still have a few more changes and upgrade + cable management to complete when it comes to my build, but Iโm extremely satisfied as is. I was initially in a toss up between this and a competitorโs motherboard, but after owning this productโฆ. Iโm glad to say I would recommend it to others. Especially have to recent security incident said competitorโs motherboardโs have been having.

I WILL NEVER SUPPORT MSI AGAIN
After being a loyal MSI customer, it's heartbreaking to say goodbye. The customer support has been terrible. I'm on my second RMA, trying to resolve my issue, and they make me feel like I'm a great inconvenience. What they don't tell you about is what we already know: *** Are my problems in addition to memory training loops The MSI MPG X870E Edge TI WiFi has been causing quite a few headaches for builders recently. Based on forums and user reports, here are the most common known problems with this specific board: Vanishing Storage Drives: One of the most common complaints is that M.2 NVMe drives randomly disappear or fail to initialize after a simple restart. Users also report the primary M.2 slot sometimes runs at much slower speeds than it should, or that using the second M.2 slot completely disables the USB4 ports. ***Memory (RAM) Instability: Many users struggle to get their system to boot with two sticks of RAM when running at high speeds (like 6000MHz). The board often throws "4E" or "4D" error codes, forcing users to turn off their high-speed memory profiles just to get the PC to turn on.*** Extremely Long Boot Times: Even for a high-end system, this board is notorious for taking a very long time to start up. Sometimes, just having a USB hub plugged in can cause the boot process to hang for several minutes. Networking and WiFi Glitches: The 5Gbps Ethernet port sometimes refuses to connect to standard gigabit network switches. Other users have reported that the built-in WiFi adapter completely disappears from Windows, making it impossible to install the correct drivers without resetting the motherboard battery. ***Sleep and Fan Control Bugs: There are known bugs where the PC refuses to wake up from sleep mode when using a mouse or keyboard. Actually Blown Away by Quality
Got this in the mail a few days ago finally after extensive searching and review scouring/comparing. Ultimately decided on another MSI board for my newest PC build using a 5080 w/ a 9800x3d. Settled on the Edge TI because of its superior VRM and thermal design, the honestly impressive visual design of the board, the white is just too clean. Compared to the Tomahawk it was worth the price difference for me honestly, allows me to run fans quieter and overclock easier, and the additional USB ports were a big deal for me. Other major positives for a board in this price range are the Debug LED'ds that can really save your butt when troubleshooting. The board feels really sturdy, has Flash BIOS and Clear CMOS functionality, and the new easy install button and m.2 clips work like a charm. Overall really satisfied with this purchase and plan on continuing to buy MSI Boards in the future, they've been knocking it out of the park in value for the money.

A great little home server board!
So far so good! Nearly a year in, and it ahs been on 24/7 without any issues as my home server. I originally bought this to replace my primary PC, but put proxmox on it as a test to learn the OS... and never bothered changing it. The PC is still plenty fast enough, and the old server needed a replacement, so instead of downgrading my PC to become the home server, this became the home server directly, and it has been awesome! The IOMMU break-down has been fine for running proxmox and virtualizing my TrueNAS install and passing the entire HDD controller/raid card through to the VM. TrueNAS thinks it is running with native control over the HDDs, and I get to use proxmox's VMs instead of the annoying VMs and Containers that TrueNAS is limited to. Best of both worlds! As a server, I am running stock speeds on things... but no issues picking up the XMP profiles on my RAM in spite of it being an AMD box, and everything 'just worked' 1st try on install. Not going to lie... I am really not use to that. Only had to dip into BIOS/UEFI a couple of times to identify a few busses and adjust a few virtualization options... outside of that, which is way more into the weeds than most people will ever need to dig into things, it all just works. For a consumer-level board, it really has a lot of non-consumer features and makes them pretty easy to access and adjust.

Not many reviews yet for this motherboard. Annoying! But MSI is one of the best motherboard brands I know. I took the chance at it as this was on sale $313 instead of itโs usually $400+ MSRP. X870 E, allows double usage of all M.2 slots with your PCIE 5. This board has all the upgrades necessary for future proof currently, as other x870 usually do. E version at least. But itโs MSIโs top board. Overall I love it! So many cool features Iโve never seen on my other boards. Easy to remove and put in GPU. No tiny screws for the M.2โs. Good vrmโs and thermals. Bios software was updated and actually nice to use. Just set EXPO for your RAM. Easy money. Only thing that sucks is out of the box, internet doesnโt work. You gotta find drivers online and download them off MSI website. Also itโs a little annoying to undervolt, if you wanna do that. They have presets.

I have been using MSI for many years. I build a LOT of PC's. Some are still running after 11 years! I had an MSI 870E Tomahawk Wifi, which was a great board. i saw this Msi MPG 870E Edge and had to have it. Got it on a Prime Day deal for a great price. Swapped my AMD 9900x and M.2 and off to the races. The Bios is very similar to the Tomahawk. I flashed bios on the dining room table with a PS and latest bios. I never use Expo. I never use precision boost overdrive. I enable Memory Context Restore to bypass the annoying algorithm on boot to eliminate the 2-3 minute boots. Set the Dram timings and very importantly set the Dram Voltage manually. Fired right up. Love the fan controls. If you insist on having MAX performance set a max thermal limit. I game and most games I cap the FPS so having your PC Turbo itself to death, crash and burn, I prefer the stability. This is the best built Motherboard I have ever used. HEAVY. Heatsinks are massive and effective. Aesthetics are second to none. Stable, breaths quality, and a work of art.

Replace stock Thermal Pads on NVME heatsinks!
EDIT: Updating my review based on the recent experience adding the second NVMe drive to the system. My main NVMe drive in slot M2_1 (Between GPU and CPU) is WD SN850X 2Tb. I had no issues with it. It's turning rather hot, but this drive is known to go up to 59C or more under continuous load. I decided to add a second drive for storage and decided to go with WD SN7100 2Tb. This is an excellent drive with fantastic reviews, which is supposed to run cooler on top of that. Upon installing it in the M2_4 slot (the one close to the bottom edge of the motherboard) and running CrystalDiskMark I realized that it only goes up to 6570Mb/s for read and 5290 Mb/s write, which is significantly lower than advertised speeds. I tried everything in BIOS, Windows settings, and even called SanDisk with zero success. Drive speed was never exceeding high 40's C so I didn't see drive temperatures as a potential issue. Then I came across several forum threads online about MSI ,X870E Carbon WiFi, with users discussing poor contact between NVMe heatsinks and NVMe drives while using OEM thermal pads supplied by MSI with the motherboard. When I took the heatsinks off, I also realized that the controller chips, which generate the most heat, are somewhat shorter than memory chips, and this doesn't allow the heatsink to make proper contact with them. I only saw imprints of the memory chips on thermal pads, but not controllers. For SN850X 2Tb there was some contact with the controller, but for SN7100 2Tb, there was none at all. On top of that, in SMART section of WD Dashboard there are two temperature sensors for the SN7100 drive: Sensor #1 is always hotter (It was showing almost 60C while idle), but it's Sensor #2 that is shown as drive temperature, which is always showing significantly lower readings. When I took the M2_4 heatsink off, I also realized that the pre-cut hole in the pre-applied thermal pad supplied with the motherboard was getting right in the middle of the memory chip for SN7100 2Tb! I also got a circle on the memory chip indicating the area of it, which was overheating. And also realized that four capacitors to the bottom of the controller chip (located in the top right corner close to NVMe interface) were completely preventing the thermal pad from making contact with it. I measured OEM MSI thermal pads with two different calipers and believe them to be 1.5 mm thick. I bought 4 Pack of Thermal Pads in different thicknesses (0.5, 1, 1.5 and 2 mm with 13W/m/K) rating off Amazon for a very affordable price. I do not believe I can mention the brand name in my review since Amazon has recently gotten overly sensitive about this. But you will find them with ease yourself. :-) A lot of posts and Videos online are showing essentially the same - standard silicone thermal pads DO NOT work well for most NVMe drives properly due to the fact that memory chips are in the vast majority of cases protruding above controller chips and preventing thermal pads from making proper contact with them. For PCIE 5.0 NVMe's, this becomes a HUGE problem. I ended up applying two different thicknesses of thermal pad: 35 mm long 1.5mm thick thermal pads over memory chips, and 38 mm long 2.0 mm thick thermal pads over the controller for both NVMe 2_1 and 2_4. Just peeled the factory thermal pads off, wiped the heatsink with rubbing alcohol, and applied a new thermal pads cut slightly wider than the heatsink width. You can flip the heatsink over and cut the excess off clean and nicely. First, apply a 1.5 mm thermal pad, cut the excess off, and add a thicker 2 mm piece later. When I assembled everything together and checked for the nice controller chip and memory chip imprint on the thermal pads, I immediately got SN7100 2Tb running with the advertised speed and even slightly beating my SN850X 2Tb. OLD: Beautiful motherboard and awesome value for the price. I was always using ASUS in all my builds for a decade but since two years ago I do not see justification for paying ASUS premiums for their questionable value. MSI MPG series is a way to go for me. This is my second MSI MPG build and I already bought one more of this motherboard for one more build. I saw peole complaining about long boot times but I have zero issues with it. Installed 9700x cpu with G.SKILL Royal Neo 6000 CL28 ram and everything started and works perfectly so far. BIOS is very responsive and intuitive - everything is easy to find and manage. Motherboard temperature doesn't go above 38-40 C. I also do not understand complaints about WiFi drivers during Windows 11 install. I created Windows 11 installer on USB and simply installed WiFi driver from MSI USB which came with this motherboard during installation by pointing Network folder as a source when prompted. Quick, effortless and worry-free process. Needless to say that this motherboard looks absolutely awesome in white case with ARGB fans. EDIT: I like function with Post indicator showing CPU temperature in real time after boot. Used PBO succesfully as well but turned it off after testing. It does give some gain in productivity but at absolutely ridiculous price in power consumption and as result - loud fan noise. I am not sure why people are so exscited about 10% gain with more than double power consumption. I have absolutely zero issues with 9700x productivity in games at 65W TDP limit and PBO in Auto.
