Best OVERALL stun gun available and a nice bonus!
This Sabre stun gun offers many attributes that are vital for using a stun gun as a self-defense choice. The ability to penetrate 3-layers of clothing, new anti-grab technology, the comfortable grip, a decent little LED light, level III on the pain scale (Sabre’s site educates you on the different levels and the amount of pain certain stun guns administrate), etc. IMHO, it's the best choice overall for a stun gun. Sabre stun guns are the best way to go when selecting an option for self-defense. They are the only company who measures the true strength of their stun guns. They don't use volts like EVERY OTHER seller of stun guns. VOLTS ARE A COMPLETE MYTH! If you wish to confirm that statement please do your own research concerning them, start with visiting Sabre’s website first. To be better informed about what stun gun you want as a self-defense choice, please read on Sabre’s website, “Stun Gun Voltage: One of the Biggest, Most Dangerous Myths in Personal Safety”. It provides the truth concerning stun guns (their ways of measuring the strength and the TRUTH about volts). In addition, I wrote a review on the nearly identical VIPERTEK VTS-989. Mainly due to it's near identical shape, features, and particularly their boast of 15 BILLION VOLTS. Electrodes per centimeter apart equals 30,000 volts. So for example, if the electrodes are spaced 5 centimeters apart your max voltage is 150,000. The differences are as follows, Sabre measures their stun gun with the assistance of the National Institute of Justice. They use microCoulombs (µC), not volts (again, which are a complete myth). MicroCoulombs are the TRUE measure of strength. The VIPERTEK VTS-989 delivers .987 µC charge of power and the Sabre S-1009 delivers 1.25 µC charge of power. This puts the Sabre S-1009 as a Level III stun gun and the VIPERTEK VTS-989 as a Level II stun gun. Please read up on Sabre and you may be shocked concerning that there are so many false claims regarding voltage. Thank you. Edited 5/11/2018: Since they (Amazon) wouldn’t let me post my review for the VIPERTEK VTS-989 stun gun, I’ll post it here: Fun fact: 30,000 is the maximum voltage that could jump across stun gun contacts spaced one centimeter apart. Any larger voltage claim violates the laws of physics. 15 billion volts sound EXTREMELY impressive, but, those figures violate the law of physics. As I mentioned previously, 30,000 is the maximum voltage that could jump across stun gun contacts or electrodes spaced one centimeter apart. It’s a false claim. Unless the “stun gun contacts” or “Electrodes“ are 500,000 centimeters apart from each other. Having purchased this model (VIPERTEK VTS-989) for my Mother through a different vendor, I’ve researched and discovered these facts. If you’re contemplating purchasing this model from Vipertek, I urge you to reconsider and go with Sabre’s S-1009 model. The model (VIPERTEK VTS-989) is designed NEARLY identical to Sabre’s S-1009. Although, performance and reliability is a different matter entirely. I attached a graph, it details different brands of stun guns, as well as Sabre and it’ll show the measurements of microCoulombs (µC) and voltage. And it shows what level (I, II or III) of pain some of the most popular stun gun’s administer and the category they fall in. Visit Sabre’s website to see and hear the truth for yourselves! Edited 5/12/2018: After reviewing the Sabre S-1009 stun gun I neglected to write about the police strength Sabre Red pepper spray... For less than $25 this is a steal. You’d normally pay $25 at least just for the stun gun! Anyways, I researched the pepper spray as well. These words from Johnny Knoxville pretty much sum up the quality of this pepper spray... “But the most pain (I ever felt on Jackass) was probably from getting sprayed with SABRE Red pepper spray smack dab in the eyes. Excruciating pain for at least 20 minutes. It feels like someone started a fire in your eyes and put it out with kerosene.” That’s from a guy that used to torture himself with friends as a profession! Sabre is the #1 brand trusted by police and consumers worldwide. It’s also said to be, double the average strength of other brands of pepper spray and and just as potent as our industry-leading police sprays. Lastly, it’s a level III spray with major capsaicinoids ranging over 1%. Which is enough to deter a bear. And regarding gel pepper spray, they can be just as effective as any other. It’s main purpose is to eliminate wind blow-back. So, if you live in a windy city consider a gel spray.

Great products and service
I wrote a review but left out that I ordered the Sabre mailbox alert. I have this spray and stun gun flashlight for protection, hopefully wouldn’t have to use, but feeling of security. But the mailbox alert is a must have, I’m disabled so can’t make unnecessary trips to the mailbox. Very impressed with SABRE products.

Feel safer almost instantly
Just having this makes me saver and more comfortable. I bought 2 of them - 1 for me and 1 for my daughter as we are driving to Alaska going through Canada. So just found out that you can't have these in Canada so I will keep them for myself

Good product, but not ideal for charging on the road
The Sabre S-1009 packs a satisfying jolt and feels solid in the hand—exactly what you want when you’re trying to look intimidating without actually throwing hands. It charges through a standard wall outlet, which is convenient at home but a bit of a diva on the road. Just a heads-up: you cannot charge this thing in your car using a 12V port or a USB cable. Trust me, I tried, and the taser basically said, “Absolutely not.” Overall? Reliable, powerful, and easy to use—just make sure you juice it up before you leave the house unless you enjoy carrying a very angry flashlight

Excellent customer service!
It feels and looks sturdy, and makes a wonderful taser sound that should send a clear message. I didn’t receive the charging cord it was supposed to come with. I contacted customer support. It couldn’t have been any easier. The agent was great, took my information and said it would be sent the next day, so I’m happy with it. The taser was already charged so I got to test it out, that’s why I know what it sounds like.

I think it's worth it, it arcs nicely
Ha! It goes happy zap and hurts pretty bad, scary sounding, haven't tried the pepper spray. But the tazer is nice at least, it's nice it's a 2 in 1, worth it for that fact, but the Sabre pepper spray has a bit of a weird top that can go off if in a tight pocket with the way the head turns on it. Light is fairly bright.

Peace of Mind in the Post-pandemic World
I’ve been carrying pepper spray as self-protection for 30 or more years, carefully replacing it every time it expires. Only had to use it once, but once was enough to keep me a lifelong user. What I liked about this particular product pairing is that it’s good for both distance and close defense. Someone coming at you, use the pepper spray, maybe followed by ‘taser’ (or not, running away while attacker is rolling on the ground crying from the pepper spray is always a good call!) Someone tries to grab you from behind - hit them with the ‘taser’. I’ve found myself spooked in the subway underground parking garage a few times since return to office, primarily because it’s so much emptier than it was pre-pandemic so even one or two people getting off the elevator on the same floor as me just feels riskier without others around, and society just feels more aggressive nowadays, so I’m happy to have this pair to put my mind at ease. I will not be using the case that came with the ‘taser’ - it blocks the switch that selects flashlight or tase - it’s just going to live in the front pocket of my work bag so that I can grab it quickly & arm it if I need it. Thanks Sabre!
