Just cut down so it’s not heavy
I returned it because it was too heavy for my parrot. I took him to the vet and the vet told me to reorder and cut it. It’s now perfect, though the bird hates it.

Needs alterations depending on the bird species
I read the reviews before ordering. Many people complained about the size of the petals being too big and bulky. One review advised to cut the larger petals down to fit better. This is what I am going to do with mine. I will edit this review once I finish the alteration.

This is so bad and not healthy for Cockatoo
My Cockatoo Moluccan wasn’t able to even walk with that or eat. I don’t recommend it at all waste of money. It’s also sooooo tight that you can’t take it off. Terrible waste of money, I had to cut it to take it off

Not User Friendly
My African Grey Parrot practically mutilated herself from plucking & I needed to keep her from doing more damage until her Vet visit. I have this bird poncho at 3 stars because it did keep her from doing more damage. However, she has a LOT of trouble moving around with it (she couldn't even perch), kept falling over & worse of all CANNOT eat because it blocks her from bringing food up to her mouth. I ordered the smaller collar to use instead of the poncho because it doesn't hang so far down & I hope it will allow her better movement & the ability to get food to her mouth. But there was a delay in shipping on that product. As it is, I have her in her travel cage with the poncho on so she doesn't hurt herself falling since it DOES prevent her from causing more damage for now. I would only recommend this product for short term use not a daily fix.

Could be improved, but not bad for price.
I don’t know why all the comments about this is not as described. It looks really long in the pic because a bird does not stand completely vertical. This is why it only goes half-way down on the wings in the back. If it was made longer to cover more in back, they would trip on it in the front. Check my pics. I don’t see any problems with the quality either. It’s basic felt which is probably the best material that’s both lightweight and strong. As far as the weight, my girl doesn’t have any problems with it, but she is used to a collar. She definitely acted like a collar was the heaviest thing ever the first time she wore one. So it takes time for them to get used to it. I will say, there is a design flaw with this collar that is problematic for my grey; there are slits in all layers, including the bottom ones. This means with enough time and persistence, they can move those layers around and get at certain areas the collar cover. Depending what area your bird is targeting, this can be an issue. The last pic you can see how my girl moved the long bottom tobthebr So to the seller, can you not cut the bottom few layers?
