This works really well in low humidity
I used to live in Austin, and if you used this there, it would make you miserable. Here in the New Mexican Desert where rain is a cruel rumor, and on a damp day the humidity is 12% an hour after the rain stops, a swamp cooler blows COLD air. The little freezer bottles it comes with are silly... While the melting ice does do some good, it is a pint of phase change material? Evaporating a pint of water will do as much good, but no you have gallons of water, so that little bit of ice is a gimmick because explaining how it really works is a waste of time in a science adverse culture. We have a large bedroom, and my wife likes it really cool (~62°f) and our house AC won't go below 68°f, so this unit comes to the rescue, giving her the cool she needs, /and/ adds some needed humidity without making things wet... Even with the swamp cooler, humidity in my house is still on the low side. A bigger unit would do more, but this one is plenty for a 400sqft bedroom in the desert. Right now the dew point is 33f. That means if I can evaporate water, that water can reach close to 33f. If your dew point is 20 degrees or more below ambient, this will work pretty good. However comfort diminishes as the humidity goes up past 70%. Also, in high humidity you can cause everything to start rusting. In my house, when I run this unit, the house gets to about 35%rh. That is still dry, so I am good. In more humid areas, a swamp cooler will cause your whole house to age faster and even rot. I like a dry house, and I'm seeing 20%rh to 35%rh swings indoors, and I am happy. Outside it runs 5 to 15%... You can see rain in the sky that never makes it to the ground sometimes. Here the swamp cooler acts like full ac. So buy the largest unit you want to deal with. You must fill it and clean it, and full of water it is heavy. So plan ahead and buy a unit you can handle. This one is 5.3 gallons, and that lasts about 2.5 nights for my wife. I think it is a good size, but I lift it into and out of the shower to service it. The unit is light but 5 gallons of water is not, can you lift 5 gallons easily? That's thinking with your back... ;)

Worked way better than I had expected... so happy!
I bought this product almost 100% sure it wouldn't work and I would have to return it. Boy was I wrong! Nobody confuses Florida with being a cool place to live, temperature-wise, but the current heat dome has made the "feel like" temperatures approaching 115. Even with 2 3-ton AC units, it's impossible to keep the inside temperature below 78. I was saving this for a power loss in case of a hurricane or bad storm, power outages during the daylight hours can be brutal. Anyway, yesterday was miserable so I set this up around 4 PM, setup was easy. I filled the tank slowly. I was worried at first because I didn't see the minimum fill line indicator changing then realized it holds 5 gallons so I just kept filling it. A word of note, when filling it, some water drops may come out the front... I was worried I was filling it wrong but it wasn't much, good idea to have a towel on the floor when filling... it's really not a lot but wet floors are bad! I had frozen the cooling pack previously. Just a note, the freezing packs are not air tight, if you squeeze them with water in them, the water will come out so freeze them upright. I plugged the unit in near my sofa (with a towel around it in case it leaked - it didn't), turned it on, turned it to cool and high and sat down and played on my tablet. It worked... I mean worked well. I had to turn the speed down because it was actually getting too cold. I am very happy with the device!! Now, I am not saying this will cool your whole house, but a small room or area where you can congregate and stay put, this will work wonders for you. A thought that may help. If you have a spare fridge (one you use just for drinks or whatever) get 5 1-gallon water bottles and keep them cold. You can obviously refill these after. The device runs air through water to cool the air, so if you have cold water I imagine the results will be even better. I have not tried this yet, I used tap water, but if you have cold water when the power goes out (and have a backup power supply) this could really help.

Didn’t work longer than 1 season
Edit to original review: the pump that circulates the water for the cooling function is no longer working. It is less than a year old and already stopped working - I was only able to use it for the summer of 2025. I’m unable to contact the seller. This thing saved my life during the summer. Ensure you have proper ventilation, keep a window open because it is indeed a swamp cooler and will get clammy. I work from home, had it in my office & the noise didn’t bother me. It does have noise but not overbearing. It don’t leak, fan works great with 3 speed settings. On high cool, water would last 12-14 hours. The wheels were great for rolling it into the bathroom to fill it straight from the shower hose. The only complaint is there’s no real easy way to clean the filter without taking the entire back apart. But I think I can deal with that.

Works well for a small evaporative cooler. Not easy to clean thoroughly.
This cooler works well for it's size, but you have to understand how these coolers work and their limitations. Don't expect them to work as well as air conditioners or heat pumps (on cooling setting). Evaporative coolers work best in low humidity, dry climates, For best effect, you have to be pretty close to this. It works well placing it under my work desk, and it blows a gentle, cool breeze over my legs and body. I can leave my home office window open for fresh air, and this keeps me cool and comfortable enough so I don't have to turn on the A/C. The most negative thing about this is that it won't be easy to clean thoroughly as it doesn't have a removable tank. You pretty much have to disassemble the back and remove several screws if you really want to clean it out thoroughly. But maybe that's a job that needs to be done once a season. But for the low price and savings on A/C, this may be worth it for you. The attached video shows the upper water tray, and water flowing into the line of holes that runs down the cooler pad.

Pretty good for a small room
Works well use it every and even leave it running over night on more than one occasion swapping the frozen packs a bit of a pain but cheap to run compared to ac

I returned it.
It has air vents on 3 sides but the water cooling is only on 1 side, it was a waste of my time.

Remote control great
This swamp cooler works but there is vents on both sides of cooler that sucks in air but there is not swamp padding on the sides so therefore the air doesn't get cold and doesn't cool the room its great if you use it with only the air. I originally bought this for my bathroom and doesn't cool it down.

A Game-Changer for Beating the Heat!
First off, the cooling power is incredible. It doesn’t just blow cold air—it creates a refreshing, natural breeze that makes the entire room feel comfortable and revitalized. Unlike traditional air conditioners, which can leave the air feeling dry and stale, the swamp cooler adds a bit of moisture to the air, which is perfect for dry and hot climate. The setup was straightforward, and the unit is surprisingly quiet. I barely notice it running, even when it’s on the highest setting. Maintenance is a breeze too—just a quick clean every now and then, and it’s good to go. Overall, I’m thrilled with my swamp cooler and would recommend it to anyone looking for a reliable and budget-friendly way to stay cool
