Review: Solid little charger - This compact unit is pretty solidly built and meets my needs for a section of fence too far away from power for a plug-in unit. It seems to be effective in keeping my animals in and predators out. I recommend going big on the ground system. I'm using a three rod system that keeps the voltage up on the line. I would recommend this unit for locations without access to power. I haven't had it in service long enough to talk about how long the battery will last, but they're pretty cheap and easily replaced.

This compact unit is pretty solidly built and meets my needs for a section of fence too far away from power for a plug-in unit. It seems to be effective in keeping my animals in and predators out. I bought the 1.2 joules charger. It went together easily, take your time, it all fits. The alarm is handy. I have 3500 feet of polywire hooked up and working. My wire got tangled around some barbed wire and shorted out the charger. As I finished untangling the wire the charger shocked me in a way I'll never forget. I'll shut it off to untangle the next time. It's is very, very powerful and works great for me.
