I want to be very through here because I understand this is a big purchase for your average person. I have read all the negative + some positive reviews, so I'd like to try to clarify some things for you. The negatives seem to be written by people who were expecting a $1,200 commercial slushie maker, like the ones from 7/11. This is not that. Stop being silly. For the diabetics complaining about the sugar-only thing, please read descriptions thoroughly before investing $300+ for an item. It is clearly stated. ALL OVER the description, unit itself, and in the manual that this unit is sugar ONLY. The overall build quality, although mostly plastic, will not leave you with a "Cheap" feeling. Trust me. It's perfect as long as you don't handle it like the Hulk. I could see drunk individuals being careless and breaking something, so just treat it with respect and it will last a long time. As a slushie FREAK, especially during the summer, this may have been the single best purchase I've ever made. This unit is meant for me and me alone, I do not expect to be serving guests at parties. That being said, the 2L capacity is WAY more than enough to keep me going for a hot summer day. I have used the unit ONCE only. I do not expect to be making spiked slush, frappes, milkshakes or frozen juices. Just slush and slush alone. - Unboxing and setup was very simple. The full setup is quite heavy for it's size, so handle with care, hold it from the bottom. -Overall size is quite thin, and it fit perfectly on my countertop. Extra ++. -Included instruction and recipes are extremely through and easy to follow. The full colour diagrams manual was also an extra ++. - Unit required to be sat upright for 2 hours to let compressor liquids settle, and thoroughly cleaned before first use. I ran the parts in my dishwasher and DID NOT use the dry cycle. -I used 2 full Liters of Fruite pink limeonade as my first slush. When I turned it on "slush" setting, unit set itself to 3/10 coldness and begun spinning. Within FIVE MINUTES I was already seeing ice chunks forming inside the tank. After a full 15 minutes I had a seriously SMOOTH slushy machine ready to dispense on my countertop. Holy $&@!. I ended up turning it down to 1/10 coldness, as it was ALMOST too thick for a genuine slush. - I used the provided drip plate and dispenser guard. My first pour was smooth, although a little slow. The removable dispenser guard built-up slush inside of it, eventually blocking the flow entirely. Opening and closing the handle repeatedly worked, but eventually I decided to remove the dispenser guard all together. That completely fixed the flow issue. I suppose the guard is better used for thicker drinks. -the overall quality of slush that came out was, to me personally, and absolute 9.7/10. PERFECTLY sized microscopic ice chunks with a 9.8/10 consistency. I poured what I would call in a convenience store a "Perfect pour". My one and only use set the bar pretty damn high. I'm really looking forward to stiring up some slush at least once a week this summer and I think I just bought the perfect device to do it. In summary, yea this thing rocks. Follow the instructions the the LETTER and you will not have issues with it. I can see where juice/pop could build up at the back of the taco, so RINSE IT THROUGHLY immediately after your last pour. Dishwasher is not mandatory, but those who hand-wash NEED to make sure that once you shut it off, that tank goes STRAIGHT into warm soapy water. If any developments come of it in the next few months, I'll return here with an update. Hope you found this helpful.
