Back with ASUS and never straying again — Absolute perfection!
I am running an AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D and an NVIDIA RTX 5080 with 2 x 32GB of DDR5 6000MHz TeamGroup T-Create RAM. I used to have an MSI X870 Tomahawk WiFi, but I kept running into major issues across multiple BIOS versions. I basically had to pick and choose my problems: with one BIOS version, my WiFi would work but I would lose an M.2 slot. With another version, the M.2 slot would show up but the WiFi would drop out. On top of that, every single first boot of the day would fail; I would have to manually reset the PC just to get it to post. I finally got tired of the headaches and replaced it with this ASUS ROG Strix B850-A Gaming WiFi board, and the difference is night and day. It feels so much more premium than the MSI board, and everything works exactly as it should out of the box. My WiFi is perfect, and all 4 of my M.2 slots are up and running simultaneously. The BIOS layout is also much more familiar, clean, and professional compared to MSI's interface. As a huge bonus, my GPU runs at a full x16 speed instead of dropping to x8. On a lot of other motherboards out there, if you populate all the M.2 slots, it forces your graphics card down to x8 lanes, but not on this board. It literally feels like I have a brand-new PC now—it is incredibly stable and runs much faster. I always used to use ASUS motherboards for all my personal builds, but I strayed away this one time to try MSI and deeply regretted it. I am officially back with ASUS for good. Highly recommended!
