Took some experimentation to learn how to prepare, but now I LOVE it!
First of all, the black spots are a good thing. It says so on the package but I missed it the first time I ordered it and threw it away. Actually, the black spots are an indication that it has reached its ideal maturity and I prefer it that way now. This has a nutty texture and very mild flavor, so you can season it however you like and add it to anything. I did not like it at first because I'm not a naturally good cook, but with experimentation I actually crave it now. Here are two of my favorite ways to prepare it. Dice the tempeh first and then.... ....Coat or marinade with coconut aminos (or soy sauce if you prefer) then pan-fry - adding in a bit of boiling water to melt the miso and peanut butter that you add next. - saute to your desired consistency. (Gives it a chicken satay type of favor that's extra yummy as the "meat" for lettuce wraps.) -----Saute in garlic &/or chili oil, then add a bit of spaghetti sauce, and add a sprinkle of nutritional yeast near the end for a parmesan-esk flavor. (Sometimes I throw in white wine &/or mushrooms in too and then add to pasta.) Either way, I'm happy with the quality, consistency & price of this product and hope you enjoy it too.

Great, healthy cruelty free protein source
I was apprehensive to try this because it looked kind of weird, but I was looking for cruelty free protein sources. I was pleasantly surprised. I actually love the texture. I cut it into little strips, fried in a little oil on both sides till crispy and then crumbled it up and added it to salad. Super good! I also recommend the bacon one, especially for salad. One of these Tempeh flavors, I can't remember which, had a little bit of black on the outside "skin". I worried that it was spoiled, but was far from the expiration date. So I looked it up and apparently that's normal due to fermentation. So good to know. I'm so happy with all the delicious cruelty-free protein sources available now! I know sometimes people have a hard time transitioning. I did a bit, but then I started loving these products for what they were and stopped comparing them to animal products. So many great options and I feel so much better after eating them. Satisfied, but no more sluggishness after eating.

Tempeh
Freeze it, steam it (about 20 min) cut however you want it, marinate it after you get as much water out of it. Look on google!!!! for prep and recipes high in protein. Enjoy.

Flavorful Plant-Based Protein
I recently tried Lightlife Original Organic Tempeh, and I must say, it's a fantastic addition to my plant-based diet and a versatile source of plant-based protein. The first thing that caught my attention was the organic label, reassuring me that I was choosing a product made with quality ingredients and without any unnecessary additives. In terms of taste and texture, Lightlife Original Organic Tempeh does not disappoint. The tempeh has a firm and slightly chewy texture that adds a delightful contrast to various dishes. It absorbs flavors well, making it an excellent canvas for marinating and seasoning. The flavor is pleasantly mild, with nutty and earthy notes. It complements a wide range of dishes, from stir-fries to sandwiches, and adapts well to various culinary styles. One of the best things about this organic tempeh is its nutritional profile. It's an excellent source of plant-based protein and provides essential amino acids, making it a nourishing addition to any meal. The 8-ounce package is a convenient size for multiple servings, and it's easy to cut into portions to suit your recipe needs. The tempeh can be refrigerated after opening, allowing for longer storage. As someone who values sustainability, I appreciate Lightlife's commitment to using organic and non-GMO ingredients. It's reassuring to know that I'm making an environmentally conscious choice when incorporating this tempeh into my meals. One of the highlights of Lightlife Original Organic Tempeh is its versatility. It can be sliced, diced, crumbled, or grilled, allowing you to explore different culinary possibilities. From adding it to salads to creating flavorful sandwiches, the options are endless. One thing to note is that, due to its slightly nutty taste, marinating or seasoning the tempeh before cooking can enhance its flavor even further. In conclusion, Lightlife Tempeh is a wholesome and flavorful plant-based protein option that I highly recommend. Whether you follow a plant-based diet or just want to incorporate more plant-based proteins into your meals, this tempeh delivers on both taste and nutrition. With its firm texture, mild flavor, and versatility, it's a perfect choice for anyone seeking a delicious and sustainable protein source. If you like tempeh, you might like this one.
It's still Tempeh. Satisfying as far as protein goes. It's okay if you chop it up really small and put it in a salad. If you're a tempeh person, then you'll probably like it. I personally don't like tempeh texture and prefer firm, marinated tofu. I have tried several tempeh products, and have yet to find one I really like.
