For the love of Magnolias!
I first saw a REAL magnolia tree on a vacation to Coronado Island, CA. The streets are lined with them and they look beautiful. I decided to buy one and put it in a planter until it gets big enough that I can transfer it to the ground. It came in very well packaged and with instructions on how to plant it and care for it. it's been a couple of months now and I'm surprised how well it's doing. Considering I live in Arizona, and it's not a prime location or weather for Magnolias, I just had to learn that it needs to be kept watered and surprisingly it survived the worst part of summer. It hasn't seemed to grow much, but after some research, found out these plants/trees are slow growers especially in environments like AZ. They will typically grow 2-3 feet a year and will reach a maturity about 15-20 years and will grow about 20-30 feet in AZ weather but can grow up to 80 feet in prime weather locations. Anyway, I think it was a great buy and can't wait to see my first magnolia.... in a few years, lol.

Thriving plants
The plants came as described and they were packaged really well to protect them through shipping and delivery. We replanted them, the same day we received them, in small pots. They are in a window getting a lot of sun from the southwest. They are really thriving for us. We’ve seen growth in both of the plants in 8 days.

Magnolia plant
I received a 6 inch shoot, not as advertised. I paid 23.00 and what a waste of money. Go to your garden center and look at what your buying. For 3.00 more I could have gotten a real magnolia that you could actually see it once it was planted. I will never buy plants online again.

Beautiful Sapling
I have ordered a lot of saplings from Amazon. This was the best one I have ever received. Beautiful, big and already thriving. I don't review many purchases, but I have to say, I was in love with this sapling from the moment I opened the box. It was at least 12 inches tall with about ten healthy leaves, thick stem and so, so healthy. I will be ordering another... or maybe two if I can sneak it past my husband...lol. I have already named my first one Maggie Malone and look forward to her growing magnificent and even more beautiful. I just have to keep her alive through the hot summer and cold winter! Wish me luck. Sheila Medlam

Good condition small
Arrived in good condition. Transplanted into larger pot as it is a birthday gift for my cousin whose birthday is not until mid October. Know Magnolia's don't like to be moved but had no choice. Made sure soil slightly acidic. Plant looks exactly the same as the day I got it. No new growth but no death either. Been a little over two weeks. As recommended in written insert if plant is not showing a sign of growth or weak growth, fed plant with acid-loving food two days ago. Used Miracle-Gro Azalea, camellia, rhododendron plant food following lesser house plant concentration as plant is still in pot. No change in plant condition yet. Really want to see some new growth before I give it as a gift. Fingers crossed.

Beautiful magnolia - 2.5 year update
It was when it arrived, a couple of inches tall and had 3-4 leaves. I’ve kept it in a pot outside and it’s done really well since. Admittedly I had it in a 6” pot for far too long which probably affected its growth before moving it to a larger 12” one. It’s about a foot tall with lots of green glossy leaves. It likes full sun, being well watered and the bugs don’t seem to like it which is great. October 2022 - it has been in a 12" pot some two years now and through two NY winters, without any particular overwintering. It's now 4'5" feet tall. It's doing great and I really like the foliage, although it has yet to flower.
